More Art Mod Opportunities
by jatill » 19 Oct 2009, 14:53
I was just poking through the other art folders to see what could be updated. It looks like the main screen could be given fresh graphics, as long as the buttons lines up with the current ones.
Also, the graphics for booster packs can be updated too. This will be handy since we'd rather show 4th Edition as Zendikar packs for that release. If we do that, we might as well change 5th edition to "Mystery" packs with some cool-looking art. Anyone with graphical skills up to the challenge?
If it's done well, I'll code the card of your choice (if possible for me to code). How's that for incentive?

Yeah, that's what I expected.Salbei wrote:so you want the starters aswell ?

Edit: neat, I can update the name of the set for Sealed, too. If course, the switcher will now also need to switch text.res.

Sure thing. There are no starters for Zendikar, so the Fat pack idea sounds good.Salbei wrote:kinda hard to find pics for starters .

got a problem .
i´ve created a starter out of a fatpack (looking ugly , but you can recognize it)
the problem is that i cannot mod the starter image (when you open , right size in big) , there is currently no way to adjust this.
the file i need for this is "Packstarterslarge.pic" (the .pic part is the problem since i can´t create these). if you could make .bmp´s readable like for the others this would fix this.
while opening:
this is not final , still have to remove the black border at the edges + smooth it a bit.

Ah, I just noticed that 4th, 5th, and 8th edition all use the same image, too. I guess we'll have to leave the starters as-is. Bummer.
Edit: if you're going to update the booster pics again, can you rename the 16 to ZZ? I've changed Magic.exe to look for those files for boosters. One less thing that'll need switching.

had quite a lot of problems when i am trying to mod the mainscreen.
image 1 colors has to match image 2 colors , wich have to match each buttons background colors -> so just switching the backgroundcolor would take min. 4 hours.
reworked:
the starting screen (mainscreen)
the backgroundscreen behind the options(mainscreen) ~ 90% the same image
that stupid sword "animation" that HAS to be replaced with what is at the exact same position (took hours of trial/error to do that junk)
-> preview:
http://salbei.spacequadrat.de/pics/main ... review.PNG
http://salbei.spacequadrat.de/pics/main ... eview2.PNG
so far so good - just have to adjust the animations now.
easier said than done ... they are driving me nuts . you have to edit 10 pictures per animation (=50 pics) ... and its not like copy/paste will help there. the first one is broken anyway so i just had to do 1 pic for it.the funny thing is that it works when you put that file in position of another. dunno whats wrong there.

hello guys,
sorry I have been absent for quite a while.
I think I 'm a bit overwhelmed by the many changes to the game.... and beside I had a few personnal issues wich left me little time.
Although, I can think about the changes to be done to the main screen. actually I have been thinking about it for a while.Believe it or not, those are the easiest changes to be made to the skin of the game, provided we keep the images organized aa they are presently. Although, a great adition would be to see where the locations of the buttons are for the main screen so we can change those locations and the size of the buttons.
I can tweak my previous ideas for the main screen to adapt them to the configuration of the present main screen. actually the hardest part are the buttons but they are more of a bore than a challenge because you have to do the stills of the animation one by one.
now I think that your launcher, Salbei, needs a graphic interface. after all it is supposed to remain one of the permanent features of the game.
and of course, the deck builder nedds some editing as well.
edit : just for the record : here is what my version of the main screen looked like (it needs editing to put the buttons in the right place
