Indestructible

Postby jatill » 17 Nov 2009, 13:48

I am trying some new code for creature indestructibility, which presently crashes the game. The card I added to test this is Eldrazi Monument. Please give it a whirl and see if you can find bugs. If you can, please post savegames.

1 small known bug:
If a creature would die, all damage is removed from it, which is not *exactly* how indestructible works.

1. AI uses it in a stupid way, he doesn't block an enormous attack (40 dmg) with all his 20 creatures as if it's creatures will die after damage.
2. Creatures that dealt lethal damage with first strike die.

Thanks for the input. I was able to reproduce and fix #1. Can you set up a savegame for #2? I don't see the problem.

I couldn't save it, i also couldn't reproduce this bug and i think they just felt out of the combat zone. But now AI is trying to kill my indestructible vampires dealing damage with suicide mogg fanatics or fiercely sacrificing his goblins to goblin grenade. Here's an example:

Also vampire knighthawk with umezawa jitte doesn't get counters from dealing damage with eldrazi monument but i think this bug is from another thread

For me, it is working very well. Sadly, Darksteel Ingot and Darksteel Citadel went to graveyard after a Shatterstorm. Darksteel Colossus instead didn't.

Good news. I think I finally identified this bug, and can fix it next release.

Hope so. Ah, just for records (maybe it can be useful), using Guardian Beast with Vault of Whispers and Armageddon makes the first one indestructible.

I have another crazy idea about non-enchant-valnurable planeswalkers. What if they are indestructible ? With only one exception for no counters on them and Maelstorm Pulse (or any other "destroy target permanent") i think there aren't many cards to recode with this variant.

I'm not sure how I'd actually code that, but it's food for thought. What is the list there? Pulse, Vindicate, Desert Twister, Angel of Despair...? Is that it?

Oops :( anyway this list is shorter than "destroy enchantments" list, 11 cards + indestructibility to planeswalkers code

Blue Elemental Blast
Northern Paladin
Red Elemental Blast
Desert Twister
Active Volcano
Flash Flood
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
Vindicate
Angel of Despair
Child of Alara
Maelstrom Pulse
