Little request: art cleaner?
by 0rion79 » 01 Oct 2010, 13:38
Hi all, how're u doing? Hope each of u is fine: in those months I'm so busy that I can't read almost any of the new messages, but I have seen also the tons of cards that have been added to the Limited version. Wow, really! O_O
Anyway, just the high degree of customization is causing the various CardArt folders to be filled with dead images or, less commonly, with missing card portraits. So I would like to know if it is possible to create a mini-program that compares the several dat or csv files and checks the related folders to see if there are extra images to be deleted (eg, aspect of wolf has till its "b" art in CardArtNew, even if that card has been deleted), or if a card has some missing portrait, which usually refers to alternative images.
Thank you!!

Sonic has painstakingly updated the art for both versions. If you start from scratch with the most recent art downloads, you will be pleasantly surprised.

@Orion79
No biggie – just delete the 15 jpg files dated 08/19/10 from the latest CardArtNew update, and you should end up 2909 files all dated 09/29/10. Which is correct.
The current CardArtLim folder should have 3008 jpg files dated 08/19/10.

I will try, thank you.
PS: Sonic, did you choose any specific order for card arts? EG, maybe by printing date.

Yes. The alternative artwork for a card is ordered from the earliest WotC MTG published artwork to the latest.0rion79 wrote:I will try, thank you.

Although, I broke this convention when the default image would have been a new card which had pre-release artwork different from the actual general release, as many people wouldn't be so familiar with the pre-release artwork. In this case the pre-release follows the general release artwork in the alphabetic sequence following the .jpg files ID number (xxxxA.jpg), in order to make the more generally recognised artwork act as the default image in the Card Builder.
I'm just compiling some newly found pre-release and rewards artwork to add to the folders and Manalink.csv files - hopefully before Jatill's next update. With any luck, this might include some of the new artwork from 'Elspeth vs Tezzeret' and 'Scars of Mirrodin', if the guys in the Pics Forum get hold of the sets and post their excellent HQ scans soon.
