May I still store card coes in magic.exe?

Hi, while ending my custom editing process, I would like to make some personal change to card complex effects (so, non-static abilities as first strike but the ones as "haste"). The question is: where can I save them? Is it still possibile to save them into any Magic.exe file or do I have to use the manalinkEx/Eh.dll? I ask so because I don't want to have my changes overwriten with the next update: even if I'm not goint to add any more cards to my custom version, I will look forward to bug fixes. I have tried to look inside the Magic.exe file and I can see a lot of "dummy" slots and then an empty part at the end of the file but I'm not sure it can be used to store abilities to "call" back through code pointers.
