AI gets stuck in an infinite loop kind of thing

Postby frankzappa » 28 Dec 2010, 13:17

Anyone know of a solution to this, or anything I can try?

First time I saw it was in the final battle of Shandalar. The guy with 300hp, I was kicking his butt and got him down to about 112 life and then the AI got stuck. The little blue circle (the windows 7 sand timer equivalent) on my cursor started rotating but it didn't stop, it just kept going and going. I went and made some food and came back after 20 minutes and it was still going. I considered it a win against Shandalar anyway and moved on.

But now I'm experiencing it the duels. Most of the time I just end task and load it up again and play again, but at the moment I'm trying to work through the "Challenges" to unlock some of my favourite cards, and it's nasty to get this on round 8 :( I can't seem to see any common reason for it or anything. It seems pretty random. The AI must have trouble with something, but I don't know what.

Anyway specs are Win7 64bit, 4 gig ram, plenty of disk space, etc.

Any tips would be much appreciated :)

In a normal match yes, but if you do that in challenge mode it won't work. You'll continue the gauntlet but you won't be able to unlock the card since challenge mode doesn't support saving and continuing.

Ahhhh ok, thanks! I guess I'm going to need to try to find a solution to this freeze then. Not that it's a big deal, it doesn't happen very often, and I'm guessing I only need to do the challenges for the cards I want, not all of them?

You can do the ones you want, there is no order in which you have to go.

It usually happens once the board gets really cluttered, like if both sides have a dozen creatures or something crazy. Certain cards also seem to mess it up, but in Shandalar there are very few bugs. (the only one that immediately comes to mind is the resuable Tempest Efreet)

Ahh :) Thanks for the info. Luckily it doesn't happen very often so I've made some good progress with the challenges now already :)
