What are your settings in Video Options? I can make videos just fine, but they are HUGE. One typical video was something like 83Mb for 6 minutes.stassy wrote:I suggest using Camstudio 2.0 as video recorder software...
It's only 3 mio for 5 min, the end is a bit confusing since some steps are missing from the record (using divx4 codecs) but I think with a recent computer it will be better and most important dredge steps are covered.

Option> Video option (1st line) then you choose the compression method.
By default it's set to Microsoft Video 1 which is no compression at all, hence the big file
If you have some others recording software installed (like video converter from / to DVD,AVI, etc...), you should have free codecs installed for good compression, like Divx 5, but alas in my old laptop I only have divx4 working...
Edit: vid from some tendrils match will be highly appreciated

There's 3 or 4 games in this attachment... in video, thanks to stassy's recommendation. One of the games has some strange bug occur, but I just kept playing, and won anyway, just a turn later.

Thanks for the vids!
Unfortunately it seems to be that this board attachment system download rate is capped to 30 kio/s which make the small file still quite big to get, may I suggest to split up to several matches/parts or host it on youtube/vid hoster? (and also I think you will reach your upload limit cap very soon because some challenge vid request will come soon, Land ho anyone?
)

Yeah, I can probably just put them on youtube. I haven't uploaded anything there before, so I'll have to make an account and figure out how to do it, but how hard can it be? Even dummies can figure it out, as evidenced by the kind of stuff youtube has :p

Just finished your vid (30 min for 15 Mio for such quality is quite nice, dunno how it will be on youtube, maybe in HD mode...), few others remarks aside the quite instructive lesson on tendril :
- You can set notepad to automatically adjust its size in format section
- You can pause/continue the record, by default it's F8 so you can resume after thinking/writing comments and get an even smaller vid size
- There is an option to hide the Camstudio window automatically on record startup, you have also a hotkey for launching the record (F7 or F9 I think)
- The vid was smooth even though little parts were skipped, can you tell us what compression video did you use and the spec of your computer?
- I loled at the double wtf on the 2 AI ritual, I often see that on my games too.
Else on the last game I could nearly anticipate some of your moves, thanks for the good examples

If anyone is still having trouble with Tendrils, I think the play philosophy for it can be summed up in one sentence:
"Play fast mana to power some card draw spells, use the new cards to play more fast mana and keep drawing until you eventually play a tendrils."
If someone had told me that right off the bat I think I would have gotten it a few games earlier than I did.

I used the "DivX
MPEG-4 Low-Motion" choice in the dropdown menu for a compressor. I didn't try any of the other ones, so I don't know if anything else is better. Then I set Quality to 100 and frame rate to 60 frame/sec, since that is what a normal TV is at. (well, sort of, but I won't get into the details)
Computer is Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, 2 Gb RAM, WinXP pro. I think my video card was in the radeon series, but I forget the number. It's probably at least 5 years old, though.
