Will have to think some more on #9. I wonder which of the two totally different solutions to #8 is the most commonly found?

Sigh. Have marched through every card and see nothing that I can pull off with anything close to the mana I have. Very frustrating.

I'm guessing mine. I found my solution in about 15 seconds when I did that puzzle, and months later and as far as I know, NOBODY found the one you did :p When I and 2 or 3 others betatested this one, jatill made some changes in order to try and make sure that there was only one unique solution to each round, as well as make sure there weren't any super easy ones. (this is why many challenges say something like "pick any 3 NONARTIFACT cards" or the like; a bunch of them have 3-4 other solutions if you can take Black Lotus, for instance)doctormac wrote:Will have to think some more on #9. For me, I think the toughest ones were 4,6,9, and 10.

Boom goes the dynamite. That felt good. I actually had more trouble with 9 than with 10. Very fun, when it wasn't frustrating as all get out.

Just discovered this today.
1) was pretty straight forward. Sorceries in Black ... that doesn´t leave many options.
2) took me way to long. Was pretty obvious. I just knew it when i saw a specific card ...
3) was obvious . tried a while to get it to work with only 3 cards and add a Mountain Goat just for fun.
4) this one was surprisingly easy. i saw many islands and it just made "click"
5) couple different routes for this. I have a feeling that specific card was just made for this purpose...
6) my route is way to whacky to be intended. really doubt you are expected to do that.
7) this was the easiest one for me. took me less than 10 seconds because a friend of mine played a deck with that combo a few years ago.
- 10) still puzzling . most of the time i end up with Pact of Negation as the last card. Maybe tomorrow
I was trying to use Elvish Spirit Guide into Channel into Hidetsugu's Second Rite for 5)... and actually thought that would cut it.It made perfect sense to me - until i read the card that i assumed would do something different.
This is exactly why people need enough sleep.Jesus ...

I don't know when it's going to be replaced, but the idea is that there are various conditions during each round of the challenge. For example, one of them states that at some time during the challenge you must have one creature in play and the AI must have five creatures in play.
When the condition is met, you will get one poison counter to mark this, and after that you can win at any point thereafter and advance to the next round, even if the condition is no longer true. (like if Wrath of God resolves, for instance, or you play more creatures) If you 'win' and you did not meet the 5:1 conditions of that particular round, you will lose during the next round's upkeep and have to restart the challenge.
I don't remember all the various round requirements, but there are threads discussing the matter somewhere in this forum. Some of the strategy may be a bit old, as this challenge came out when we had hundreds less cards than now, and it was originally the 10:1 challenge, which slightly affected what people did.
As a very general rule of strategy, I strongly recommend using several 'wish' cards (like Living Wish) and a playset of Ring of Ma'ruf. The final round you will need six Strip Mine (1 for you, 5 for AI) so you'll need the Strip Mine in your deck plus at least 5 of Living Wish+Ring of Ma'Ruf in your deck at a bare minimum.

Planeswalker Decimation

So anyone have some decks that they have used to beat this challenge.
I am now down to needing Super Mulligan, Magic the Puzzling, Programmer's Delight, and this before I have them all complete.
Any help with deck lists on this challenge would be helpful.

I haven't played it yet, so I don't even know what it's about. I'll give it a go later tonight and post either here or in my tutorial thread. It might be interesting to see how I approach it from a completely new perspective. All of my other tutorials were done with an a priori knowledge of how to beat it, since I'd done them all before.

Gave this one a try. Not sure if you want some spoilers or not here, so I'll just say that my first attempt with white weenie failed on round 1 and my second attempt with affinity got to round 4, and that I plan to try affinity a few more times. I had included the Painter's Servant / Grindstone combo, but it turns out that it doesn't work; it still only mills 2 cards :p So I'll remove that and try again.

I just finished this challenge with an affinity deck. My first attempt was with white weenie, then second with affinity/painter's servant/grindstone, then my third and fourth attempts were with affinity, minus the combo and adding more creatures. I beat it on the fourth attempt, but only because the AI is fricking stupid with planeswalkers and won't use them 90%+ of the time. This will be one of the hardest challenges once the AI learns to use planeswalkers.
