Looks like great fun, only why do you have Tainted strike in the monoblack infect deck? Unless infect stacks (maybe it does, but I wouldn't think so) then it's not very good here.

In the shape anew deck, at first I was thinking 'wtf' when I saw the wurmcoil engine, thinking that's not a very good thing to include. Then I thought about it. If you hit that instead of the colossus, you can shape anew again on the engine, get the colossus AND get the two tokens from the engine's death. (assuming you had two shape anew) Might also be a good idea to sneak in some Mishra's Factory (since it's an artifact creature after activation) in case you don't get Trinket Mage. (same reason that decklist you linked to had Inkmoth Nexus)

You are right about Tainted Strike, I though (well hoped :p) it would stack but it didn't (it just add one counter due to +1/+0), but this card is part of the new update so I had to put it to test it.

I found with Shape anew quite hard to pull out the ideal combo (aka blightsteel) against weenie deck, so I threw out the wurm because it was in the sideboard and also the original creator of this deck though the same, an alternative to the big infect one.
And yes, we are missing Inkmoth Nexus but I didn't think about Mishra's Factory as a replacement.

There are also quite a lot of new cards that I can't seems to find a combo deck, for many there are a lot of complementary missing cards from Mirrodin Besieged, maybe it's a bit too soon because of the early release...

The infect mechanic is quite fun. Especially along with things like Hatred or even just Howl from Beyond (try it^^).

Phyrexian Hydra is just sick.Just have to give it Trample (Rancor anyone?) and this thing just wins on its own.
Is that green pump spell implemented that can alternatively be cast by giving the opponent some life ? Forgot the name, sorry. Would be a nice synergy since you don´t care about the opponents life total.

I somehow prefer a mono green version (mostly because of Rancor).Well black offers removal that pretty much does the same thing - you bypass potential blockers.

Code: Select all
.852   4   Phyrexian Crusader
.1580   4   Phyrexian Vatmother
.1983   4   Plague Stinger
.1996   3   Hatred
.113   3   Howl from Beyond
.939   4   Hand of the Praetors
.449   4   Contagion
.1091   4   Consuming Vapors
.976   4   Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon
.239   22   Swamp
.55   4   Dark Ritual
This was my first attempt at the black version. Not tweaked at all, was just trying the general idea.

Code: Select all
.588   4   Path to Exile
.1589   4   Phyrexian Hydra
.899   2   Arena
.1346   4   Sunscape Apprentice
.1804   4   Noble Hierarch
.1681   4   Rancor
.1273   4   Counsel of the Soratami
.745   4   Green Sun's Zenith
.284   3   Primeval Titan
.1357   4   Rhox War Monk
.126   1   Island
.1488   4   Flooded Strand
.254   4   Tundra
.188   1   Plains
Don´t take this too serious, got a very similar deck for sealed deck and it was quite fun to play so i roughly rebuild it as a 60 card version.Always fun to play 5th edition sealed deck (pretty much all cards can be found there for some reason).

Code: Select all
.1604   4   Phytohydra
.511   4   Plague Spitter
.1513   4   Tendrils of Corruption
.216   4   Scrubland
.12   4   Bayou
.1411   4   Crypt Rats
.20   4   Stoneforge Mystic
.556   2   Sword of Light and Shadow
.1625   4   Marsh Flats
.1959   4   Verdant Catacombs
.239   5   Swamp
.91   1   Forest
.188   1   Plains
.212   1   Savannah
.450   2   Sword of Feast and Famine
.899   2   Arena
.1091   4   Consuming Vapors
.98   2   Troll Ascetic
.1103   4   Gatekeeper of Malakir
I felt like building a fun deck - so this one is mainly a "kitchen table" deck.
The idea is to get Crypt Rats into play equipped with Sword of Light and Shadow. Also don´t underestimate the untap effect of Sword of Feast and Famine - the card is a LOT stronger than it looks like. I completely underestimated the card.

There are a lot of fun combos in this one.

Crypt Rats - Sword of xxxx (to gain protection from black).
Crypt Rats + Phytohydra (or Fungusaur - added that one for nostalgic reasons).
Plague splitter does the job as well.
Arena + Phytohydra is also a very nice combination.
Stoneforge Mystic is in there to obviously fetch missing equipment parts (and will usually die very early, but can be brought back to you hand with your Sword of Light and Shadows).
Also Gatekeeper of Malakir is a very nice revive target for Sword of Light and Shadows (since you get it into your hand you can pay the kicker cost).

The landcount in this one is very high on purpose, you can´t afford to miss early landdrops plus every single one will help your Tendrills or Crypt Rats.

It sure looks very random, but please give it a shot. It is fun to play.

;TheEntsAreComing

;4th Edition
;

.1601 4 Doran, the Siege Tower
.1358 4 Indomitable Ancients
.1415 4 Rafiq of the Many
.1294 4 Treefolk Harbinger
.1143 3 Timber Protector
.719 3 Sapling of Colfenor
.1357 3 Rhox War Monk
.1119 4 Dauntless Dourbark
.1193 3 Cold-Eyed Selkie
.38 3 Augury Adept
.772 4 Murmuring Bosk
.252 4 Tropical Island
.254 4 Tundra
.212 4 Savannah
.17 1 Black Lotus
.230 1 Sol Ring
.165 1 Mox Emerald
.166 1 Mox Jet
.167 1 Mox Pearl
.169 1 Mox Sapphire
.12 3 Bayou

The recent addition of Doran and Rafiq has me really excited; those are incredibly fun cards that are also quality cards. I threw together all the coolest treefolk as well as a few cards that are sick with exalted doublestrike and this is the result.

It doesn't have any removal (or any noncreature cards besides mana) so it can suffer somewhat there, but this was just for fun. There are a few bugs related to this deck that I've posted about already.

The AI also plays horribly against this deck. It has no conception of doublestrike (not really surprising) and sometimes makes mistakes with Doran on the field as well. I once saw it block Indomitable Ancients (with Doran in play) with three 2/2 creatures. It does recognize certain aspects of Doran, though; attacking with a lone 0/5 Doran, the AI was smart enough not to block with a 1/1, so it's not a completely lost cause. The AI also has no conception of indestructible, and will block Sapling of Colfenor, thinking it's making a trade, but the sapling will survive.

There are some pretty sweet, sick hidden plays here. Attack with Cold-Eyed Selkie while Rafiq is on the board; draw 4 cards. Attack with Indomitable Ancients while Doran/Rafiq are on the board = 20 damage. Augury Adept is probably the weakest card in the deck, and could be cut for Ancestral Recall/Time Walk or some removal.

Yeah Doran is great. Was the first thing i build when the patch came out.
Chameleon Colossus would fit great into your list.
Things like Ohran Viper are really nice along with him.

Forgot the name of that creature ... cost W and you can discard a card to pump it +0/+4 . Some dredge decks use it as a discard outlet. This one would be nice with Doran too. But it is not coded yet i think.

---

Now this one is creative!

Code: Select all

.1796   4   Oversold Cemetery
.293   4   Tombstone Stairwell
.292   4   Fauna Shaman
.1049   4   Withered Wretch
.370   4   Hermit Druid
.684   4   Golgari Grave-Troll
.641   4   Wall of Roots
.313   4   Elves of Deep Shadow
.1069   4   Lhurgoyf
.91   3   Forest
.239   3   Swamp
.12   4   Bayou
.1474   4   Wooded Foothills
.1489   4   Bloodstained Mire
.1849   3   Anger
.241   2   Taiga
.9   1   Badlands
The deck evolves around Hermit Druid to quickly fill your graveyard with creatures.Only going to need one or two activations to get around 10 creatures into your graveyard.
Then Tombstone Stairwell should be lethal.
Another kill option would be a hardcasted Lhurgoyf (should have haste via Anger).
Oversold Cemetery is just the icing on the cake, but you won´t need it most of the time.

Fauna Shaman helps to get missing pieces and also helps the general strategy.
Withered Wretch is in there to get rid of the opponents Creatures in his graveyard.
You might want to add Eternal Witness to the deck, but it should not be needed most of the games. Golgari Grave-Troll is mainly in there to be dredged and be used as "fodder" for Fauna Shaman, but also can become deadly (with Anger).
Overall a nice deck idea.It is not 100% tweaked yet, but already really efficient.

I like the merfolk one where you used Standstill and Aether Vial together; that's pretty sweet. And in that belcher deck... if Burning Wish is really unrestricted in legacy, that's insane; it should be banned there :p

This deck isn't "good", but it's fun and wins out of nowhere

Assassin Deck:Guillotine of Unlife
10 Mox Jets
10 Swamps
4 Icy Manipulators
2 Soul Nets
4 Dark Rituals
4 Demonic Tutors
4 Animate Dead
2 Necropolis of Azar
4 Paralyze
2 Nettling Imps
2 Sengir Vampires
6 Khabal Ghouls
6 Royal Assassins

This deck works on many levels, giving an assassin deck some variety using the vintage cards. Dark Rituals and Demonic Tutors get those cards out there I need and quickly. Paralyze in the short run and Icy Manipulator in the long run autotap those creatures setting them up for the guillotine, the Royal Assassin. Khabal Ghouls for the most part and Necropolis of Azar for the long games cash in on the deaths as well as Soul Net for gaining life from death. Nettling Imps can also work into making creatures tap + help the Sengir Vampire gain counters.

Why Animate Dead? Because I only need the abilities of dead Nettling Imps, Royal Assassins and Khabal Ghouls instead of being full capacity. It also helps in grabbing an occasional useful card from opponents.

I originally had all Mox Jets but Energy Flux changed that. Now I halve it with Swamps.

To beat this deck you'll need a ton of spells killing off my troops as well as enchantments/spells to destroy/negate artifact abilities. I've had a little trouble with old decks using Smoke and Kismet together for example, but you need others to compliment those 2 or I'll eventually overcome.

This deck is illegal. Deckbuilding rules say there can only be ONE Mox Jet, ONE Demonic Tutor and FOUR Khabal Ghoul/Royal Assassin in each build. Sorry, man, but you're gonna have to fill those 17 slots with lands (or other mana sources) and some other black cards.

I know it's illegal, but it's fun to play with the Microprose game. I didn't submit it as a tourney champion possibility or anything.

Thanks for the posts and information though.

Assassin Deck:Guillotine of Unlife
15Swamps
5 ebon strongholds
4 Icy Manipulators
2 Soul Nets
4 Dark Rituals
1 Demonic Tutors
4 Animate Dead
2 Quest for the Gravelord
4 Paralyze
3 Nettling Imps
4 Sengir Vampires
4 Khabal Ghouls
4 Royal Assassins
4 Nekrataal
Would this change work? When I assign lands, I use the KISS principle I learned in Oblivion modding. Keep It Simple, Stupid. The 'stupid" applies to the person using it, in this case, me.

BTW

A huge thank you to all of you who submitted decks in .dck form. I look forward to playing them all and learning the subtle nuances. The "middle Ages" cards after arabian nights, I know little about and now I've the means to learn them all.
