Carnival of Souls (while some decks could make use of it, most will find it a nuisance)
Cloudstone Curio (same idea; great in a few decks, lousy in most)
Force of Nature (adjust life totals)
Lord of the Pit (adjust life totals)
Mishra's War Machine (one of the worst cards ever made)
Yawgmoth Demon (adjust life totals)
Gloom (Sleight of Mind to whatever your main colour is, if that's possible)
Hunted Dragon or Hunted Horror (if life totals were adjusted too)
Mana Crypt (it's a great card, but sometimes you don't want it out until you can use it)
Phyrexian Negator (again, a great card, but not if the AI had 50 life or something :p)
Sarcomancy (imagine having a couple of those in play but getting no zombies, or maybe one zombie and 3-4 sarcomancy)
Varchild's War-Riders (if you can somehow keep the player from just not paying the upkeep)

I thought there would be more :p I ignored anything that was global in effect, like Armageddon Clock or Winter Orb or Haunting Wind. If it is possible to make those kind of cards one-sided for challenge mode (like having them disappear on AIs turn and reappear on yours) then there are a lot more that would work. Imagine Ankh of Mishra phasing out at the end of your turn (or being destroyed) and then returning during your upkeep... there would be dozens of cards you could pick then.

Starting on your side:

1)Winter Orb + Smoke(vs vigilance.dck) (looks easy - but its a meta thing)
2)4 Helm of Awakening + 2 Font of Mythos (vs zombie.dck/spawnwrithe.dck)
3)Bitter Blossom + Night of Souls Betrayal + Manabarbs <- anti keeper
4)Gravity Sphere + Moat + Mana Flare + Tabernacle(against fireball.dck) <- anti creaturebased
5)Trinisphere + Sphere of Resistance + Storm World + Land Tax (mulligan down and you are fine, AI =3x Ivory Tower)<- anti tps //dredge
6)3 Dark Confidant + 2x Moat (should be easy but you have to adjust your deck)
7)Blood Moon +4 Energy Flux (well everyone saw that coming^^)(merfolk.dck) <- vs staxx / platinum angel
8)Oath of Druids + 3 Mountain Goat ! newsliver.dck <- anti oath ... more or less
9)Force of Nature + Meekstone (simmilar to confi/moat but without the carddraw) // vs elf.dck
10)Neither Void + Mishras Ank + Concordant Crossroads (vs Soldier.dck ?)

guess you should ban Echoing Truth and "Enchant World" cards for this one :)

I like all theses ideas.

My contribution :

The USE-ARTIST-FILTER-FOR-THE-FIRST-TIME! challenge

Each match, player must make a new deck with only cards of a random list of artists (exception : basic lands).
Each match, this list of artist decrease by one.

Exemple :
first duel, there is 20 artists.
second duel, there is 19 artists.
Etc...

Other idea in the same Way :
Player can choose a fixed number of artists, and must make only a deck with cards of these artists.
Example : 5 artists (exception, basic lands).
(Then 1 (or 2) of these artists can't be choosed again.)

Tribal Trials 2

Every card in your deck must be from the same tribe. You may have 4 (or 6) cards that break this rule.

Hopefully this is possible, because tribal decks are fun, but most of them are rather useless for majority of challenges due to restrictions (except elves...). Would LOVE to play vampires in a challenge enviroment! :D

I have no idea if shangfu's idea can be implemented or not, but that is a freaking awesome idea. There was one challenge I finished with a sliver deck (all slivers, lands, and 4 aether vials and moxes) and slivers are probably one of the strongest theme decks around, but yeah vampires or goblins or something would be awesome too, or even DRAGONS :D (I'm old; we called this idea 'theme' not 'tribal' but whatever :) )

No, I think shangfu meant *you* as the player are required to play a tribal deck, like how other challenges are planeswalker only, sorcery only, etc. Have a challenge where it has to be all one type of creature, like all goblin, all vampire, all dragon, or whatever.

Yep, player can have only creatures of single type, basic and beta dual lands, and maybe couple of cards that break this rule. And maybe in the final rounds opponent could start the game with some kind of tribe-hate cards on play (engineered plague?).

Hahha, this is propably impossible to implement, but would be fun (or insanely annoying):

Drunken Boxing:
Every instant and sorcery has it's target determined at random. Permanents have 50% chance to appear on opponents side when cast. Maybe add more random effects in later rounds.

Some sweet ideas here. Especially the reverse tribal trial idea. Don't know if anyone is still looking for ideas, but how about a sealed deck challenge, where you get some number of packs to build a 40 card deck each round? Not sure if that's easy to implement, but it would be interesting and difficult.

Hey guys... There's some really good ideas on this thread. I was just wondering if any new challenges are in the plans for the future. I can't speak for everyone else but the challenges are the reason why I keep coming back to this game... Figuring out decks to beat them is my favorite part.

A challenge called super cascade in which player is supposed to cast cascade spells and activate cascade X times during the match where X is number of round. Then his opponent becomes killable. So at the last round player would be supposed to activate cascade 10 times before he could kill his opponent. And as a prize he would start every game with Maelstorm Nexus in play

Hey !!

I'am flashed by a good idea ! 8)

The "CRAPY CARDS" challenge.

For this challenge, player fight against AI decks done with very bad cards, totaly overcosted, or with ridiculous effects.
BUT :
- If CC of the card played by AI is 2 or less : AI draw a card.
- If CC of the card played by AI is 3 or less : CC is reduced by 1 ! AI flip a coin, if AI win the flip, AI draw a card.
- If CC of the card played by AI is 4 or more : CC is reduced by 2 !
- If CC of the card played by AI is 8 or more : CC is reduced by 3 !
- CC of capacitys played by AI is reduced by 1 if they are CC 3 or less !
- CC of capacitys played by AI is reduced by 2 if they are CC 4 or more !
- CC of capacitys played by AI is reduced by 3 if they are CC 8 or more !

Examples :
- AI play "Flight" CC = U, so AI draw a card.
- AI play "Craw Wurm" CC = 4GG, so CC become 2GG.
- AI play "Aladdin's Ring" CC = 8, so CC become 5, and capacity CC become 5.

EDIT :

It's too complicated.
SO just :

CC 0 to 2 : AI draw 2 cards.
CC 3 to 5 : AI draw 1 card and CC reduced by 2.
CC 6 or more : CC reduced by 4.


Like this, really bad cards can be added to the AI deck.
