New Combo Deck!
by monopoman » 13 Feb 2010, 00:03
Well now that the final card needed to make this deck appeared in the last update figured I would share this with the world.
Those tired of Oath/Tendrils/Dredge can try this fairly good fun deck...

;4th Edition
;
.1892 4 Elvish Spirit Guide
.1293 4 Fyndhorn Elves
.1995 4 Quirion Ranger
.149 4 Llanowar Elves
.1939 4 Nettle Sentinel
.1934 4 Heritage Druid
.1974 4 Priest of Titania
.1363 4 Elvish Visionary
.1856 4 Glimpse of Nature
.1714 3 Skullclamp
.1001 3 Staff of Domination
.165 1 Mox Emerald
.17 1 Black Lotus
.599 1 Concordant Crossroads
.319 2 Gaea's Cradle
.91 6 Forest
.116 1 Hurricane
.1564 1 Elvish Archdruid
.107 1 Joraga Warcaller
.1997 1 Birchlore Rangers
.1816 3 Wirewood Symbiote
The deck generates infinite mana eventually with a Priest of Titania/Elvish Archdruid out and enough elves with a Staff of Domination out also.
At that point you can gain as much life as you want/draw every card in your deck you want/tap all creatures in play if you so desire. Though unfortunately there is no quick way to do this due to the constraints of the game. After you generate that much mana you can finish off the opponent with a hurricane or just swing in with like 10/10 elves thanks to Joraga Warcaller.
To get the combo going you have 3x skullclamp and 4x Glimpse of Nature.

Yeah the problem with the deck is not drawing enough cards glimpse of nature is sooo vital that is why I run the skullclamps so you can have other avenues to draw into some glimpse of nature or keep drawing elves to keep sacrificing.
My version is actually one of the fastest decks and the AI has no clue how to play against it usually not even recognizing your a threat until its too late. That is partially why it doesnt' show up a ton in vintage or legacy all you have to do is keep all priest of titania/elvish archdruid off the board or counter every glimpse of nature/skullclamp and you autowin against this deck.

Good deck, I will adapt this in legacy (so I will remove lotus, mox, skullclamp and try to find another drawing-card).monopoman wrote:Well now that the final card needed to make this deck appeared in the last update figured I would share this with the world.

I've made another combo elf deck, with blue (intruder alarm combo) and 4 time walk of tempest (3UU cost, I don't remember name of that card), and 4 Force of will, and concentrate, braingeyser, opposition.
It kill by creatures in one turn (Concordant Crossroads) or it kill by braingeyser the opponent.
So, in type 1, you can improve your deck easily and make it more competitive :
replace 6 Forest by 4 tropical island, put somes land grant.
Then you can use the most famous blue card (force of will, ancestral recall, time walk, timetwister) and some good others blue cards necessary to aliment FOW.
Use Regrowth (to replay timetwister, timewalk etc...).
It need to remove a lot of cards of your deck and make it more erratic. Exemple : 2 Elvish Visionary, not 4, etc..
I prefer erratic decks (less oriented to ONE unique combo) but with many possibilitys and win conditions, with not redondant card, and more ready for imprevisibility.
Example : putting ONE opposition is all benefit.

Ancestral and Time Walk can probably make it in.
But remember every creature you remove makes the deck less consistent.
Getting the infinite creature casting going with glimpse of nature is vital.
So really you would not put in Force of Will. Also 4 land grant would cause problems cause you might stall out going damn I sure wish I would have drawn any 1-2 casting cost elf instead of this force of will or land grant.
The way this deck goes off is an endless stream of creatures. Yes once it has priest of titania or elvish archdruid and enough elves out+staff of domination you automatically win but the fact of the matter is that is sometimes a bit easier said then done.
The deck also has multiple ways to win even if you dont' combo out. You can still generate like 10+ mana off a priest of titania and then cast a multi-kicked warcaller then just play the I race you with my beatdown game.
This already is a legacy deck and every version I have seen is mono-green its just not as popular as say Tendrils or something. I just adapted it for T1 since the game engine doesn't care about like legacy vs. vintage unless you go specific deck vs. specific deck.
So really if you want to remove a spell you can remove..
Hurricane
Skullclamp
Staff of Domination
Concordant Crossroads
Because the other ones are needed to keep the creature stream going.
Actually Eternal Witness > Regrowth in this deck the 1 extra mana is usually irrelvant and drawing say 1-2 cards for casting that witness+getting back a card in the grave is better.

Ok, I will try your decks first like this.
My deck is like this, but should be optimisable (add 1 staff of domination for exemple) :
