Standard Blue Deck

Postby Final Fortune » 07 Mar 2010, 03:36

Hi people!

I'm trying to build a Standard Blue deck with Master Transmuter as the central card. I'd like your help to make this deck better, not only in Manalink, but in real world too! Here's my initial idea:

Trasmute Your Mind

2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
4 Negate
3 Clone
4 Cancel
4 Master Transmuter
4 Ornithopter
3 Howling Mine
2 Darksteel Colossus
20 Island
2 Platinum Angel
2 Sphinx of the Steel Wind
3 Fabricate
2 Halimar Depths
2 Fatestitcher
2 Magister Sphinx
1 Sharuum the Hegemon

Sideboard ideas are welcome too!
Thanks :)

I'm not familiar with standard these days at all, but unless the environment is a lot slower than it was in my day, I would add some removal and probably some more counters, too, especially ones that are two mana or less, even if they are not hard counters. Against a fast deck, I think this would get overwhelmed.

I'd also take a look for other artifacts besides Ornithopter and Howling Mine. You can chump block with Ornithopter and he is 0 mana, but is there anything else better you can use for zero mana in standard, or maybe one mana? Howling Mine also has the problem that it costs one card to play, but gives both players additional cards, so it is card disadvantage. I'd look for another similarly low casting cost artifact that will give benefit to you but not the opponent.

You also have nine big creatures and three clones. That seems like too many to me. I'd cut that down a few, and add in more control/removal elements.

sideboard: I have no idea what the environment is like, but based on this list, I'd make sure it was designed to fight very fast creature decks.

Thanks aww1979!

I think that is hard to build a competitive MonoBlue Deck nowadays. So, I made modifications and build a U/W deck!

Transmute Your Mind

4 Negate
4 Cancel
4 Master Transmuter
1 Darksteel Colossus
10 Island
1 Platinum Angel
2 Sphinx of the Steel Wind
3 Fabricate
2 Fatestitcher
1 Magister Sphinx
1 Sharuum the Hegemon
4 Path to Exile
2 Celestial Colonnade
4 Glacial Fortress
6 Plains
2 Meddling Mage
3 Wall of Denial
2 Deft Duelist
2 Clone
2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor

Suggestions? =P~

Yeah, I like this one better. There must not be too many good counters in type II these days, if you are using stuff like Cancel instead of Counterspell, but there isn't much you can do about that. I like the addition of Path to Exile a lot, the deck really needed something like that. Meddling Mage looks pretty good too; in fact, I think I'd take out the Deft Duelists and make them two more meddling mages. The Fatestitcher seems a bit out of place, but it is a decent card, since it can tap anything the opponent has that might be a problem. The other thing I'd do, at least on the computer (maybe not in real life, depending on budget issues) is to add in some of whatever the black/blue version of Glacial Fortress is, for the odd time you might actually want to hardcast magister sphinx or sharuum. It might open up more sideboard options, too.

This version is better.
But It should be difficult to play this combo.
Master Transmuter is 4cc, and only 2 toughness, and don't have haste.
So It will be difficult to protect it. (ligthning bolt or pathtoexile and it's over).
And combo go at turn 5 only.
It's like a elvish piper deck... kill kenny !
