Re: Challenge Set #3 (spoilers)

Finally conquered Enchanted Evening with a solid deck using some suggestion from scherbchen (can't believe an enchantment deck could be so solid).
7 Plains
1 Swamp
4 Forest
4 Savannah
4 Scrubland
4 Bayou
3 Sigil of the Empty Throne
4 Pacifism
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Moat
3 Luminarch Ascension
4 Journey to Nowhere
3 The Abyss
4 Enchantress's Presence
3 Exploration (*)
4 Pernicious Deed
(*) => I wanted Dark Heart of the Wood in place of Exploration, but latest patch removed it.
Easiest match -> against white weenie
Hardest match -> against burn/vise
Now I guess I need to go with Master Warlock.. Illusions is quite useless without Donate

Haha, damn my need for overkill, was watching a movie on The Perfect Storm, and decked myself accidentally on round 6.
Will give it another go

I'm just doing some AI dueling since I got some new deck recently. Some cards in this Jund Deck are Locked and reference these challenges.
Is Bloodbraid Elf a known problem card? Is it a problem with the cascade ability? Or do I have to complete challenges to unlock it's ability for use in everyday life?
If so, how do I get to challenge mode again?

I'm currently trying out Challenge #3 Enchanted Evening and also Sliver Nation. It seems during my draw phase, I do not draw a card. Is that really the case?

If you played the challenge where you skip your draw phase, and then switched to a different challenge without closing and restarting the program, this might be the problem. I restart magic.exe in between all my challenge attempts.mzepol wrote:I'm currently trying out Challenge #3 Enchanted Evening and also Sliver Nation. Now I've got a new problem. I was playing BANNED! and I think I'm at the last round already, but when the match started I got the message "You didn't meet the win conditions of the last round", then I auto lost. WTF? I was using a sliver deck with the following cards:
.1693 3 Heart Sliver
.1377 4 Muscle Sliver
.1386 4 Sinew Sliver
.1381 3 Bonesplitter Sliver
.1389 4 Talon Sliver
.1378 3 Might Sliver
.1743 4 Æther Vial
.164 2 Mountain
.188 2 Plains
.91 2 Forest
.1387 4 Spinneret Sliver
.1380 3 Blade Sliver
.212 3 Savannah
.189 3 Plateau
.241 3 Taiga
.165 1 Mox Emerald
.167 1 Mox Pearl
.168 1 Mox Ruby
.230 1 Sol Ring
.17 1 Black Lotus
.1385 4 Plated Sliver
.1938 4 Virulent Sliver

I'm not sure what the root cause is, but I believe that is the message when you play the 5:1 challenge and don't meet the win condition. Why it is showing up in BANNED! I have no idea; maybe jatill would know? Perhaps it is related to your quote; did you try the 5:1 challenge and then move on to the banned one without restarting?

As far as I can remember, I didn't do the 5:1 challenge before BANNED!.aww1979 wrote:I'm not sure what the root cause is, but I believe that is the message when you play the 5:1 challenge and don't meet the win condition. Just beat Enchanted Evening with the Honden deck with Luminarch Ascension. Hardest match was against my mirror who had a Luminarch Ascension in play on the 2nd turn. Good thing I was able to cast a Propaganda and 2 Collective Restraints before he got an angel out. It was a while before I managed to kill the AI with the red Honden. Can't believe I didn't even get 1 Luminarch Ascension into to play, or even 1 Porphyry Nodes for that matter.

Gather No Moss
With the additions of Overgrown Battlement and Emrakul, this challenge got a ton easier.
Here's my suggestion- I haven't won with this yet because I keep crashing (!!!), but it has game against every deck that isn't Turbofog or doesn't have forestwalk.
Finishers/Tutor
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
3 Eladamri's Call
Ramp/Draw
4 Overgrown Battlement
4 Wall of Omens
4 Wall of Blossoms
4 Carven Caryatid
Big Butts
4 Wall of Reverence
4 Sunweb
4 Wall of Swords
For the last four slots (I suggest 24 land) here are some decent guys with their own merits:
Plumeveil
Tinder Wall
Wall of Brambles

I definitely recommend Plumeveil for Gather No Moss; it was very useful when I did that challenge. You can also include 4x Tropical Island in place of 4x Forest to make it a bit easier to cast. If memory serves, you can't use nonalpha duals in this one, so you might as well do that.

I finally got through this one. I went with Tinder Wall and Plumeveil, and took out Carven Caryatid because Overgrown Battlement doesn't count it for producing mana. Of course it turns out Plumeveil doesn't seem to generate mana either...but it was still a very useful flying butt.
I wouldn't include Tropical Islands just because I only want to auto-lose to one type of landwalker. Playing blue mana brings Inkwell Leviathan and Lord of Atlantis into us pretty hard. But then again, the consistency of getting an early Plumeveil to stop beats may be worth the risk, and you can probably hold back your Tropicals until you know you're not playing against merfolk.
The deck I had the most trouble dealing with was actually Relentless Rats! I have still not beaten them with walls.
I have to say the Overgrown Battlement/Eladamri's Call/Emrakul package is just the nuts in this one.

OMG, with the wall deck I cant stop hitting rats/burn or sliver first turn black lotus!
Have you guys unlocked "Gimme!" b4 Harmonic sliver be coded or not? Against sliver is an auto-loss, i cant run against cristaline + harmonic...
I know im such a cry babe, i just want to express myself a little

I hated the wall challenge :p That was the second last one I finished, since I hate walls so much! I think I did unlock it before Harmonic Sliver, though. If I remember, my four wild cards were four Ring of Ma'Ruf so I could get whatever win card was best suited to the deck I was facing. (or Moat or something if I needed that ASAP, like against Rats)
The secret weapon in my 'gimme' deck was splashing for Sarkhan Vol in a blue deck, since it counts as a gimme card (second ability). Of course, most of the time I'd just pop dragons out with it, but hey, whatever
