somacat wrote:I just beat Dude... (again, now that it unlocks a card) with this list:

.1997 4 Birchlore Rangers*
.1564 4 Elvish Archdruid
.1363 4 Elvish Visionary
.1293 4 Fyndhorn Elves
.149 4 Llanowar Elves
.1974 4 Priest of Titania
.1942 4 Regal Force
.1939 4 Nettle Sentinel
.1360 4 Wren's Run Vanquisher
.1934 4 Heritage Druid
.1461 3 Imperious Perfect
.1892 4 Elvish Spirit Guide
.15 4 Birds of Paradise
.1913 4 Dryad Arbor
.1804 4 Noble Hierarch
.1308 1 Platinum Angel

There are not alot of ways to build a deck for this challenge, since you are forced to run Arbor and ESG as your initial mana sources. The Platinum Angel is pretty random, I just wanted another 'I win' card for if I get Priest or Archdruid on the table. It's basically Regal Force #5. This deck can't beat Turbofog, unless you get insanely lucky, and it autoscoops to the burn deck as well if that goes turn 1 Bolt on your Arbor. Obviously you have to mulligan aggressively into Arbor + 1cc mana dude or ESG + mana dude... and sometimes you won't draw them after multiple mulligans. But hey, it's a challenge, right?

With the City of Brass, this was probably the easiest challenge I've beaten so far. In my winning run, I did have a few tight moments, like against Slivers when it depended on whether I could get 30 life from Soul Wardens to activate Serra Ascendant, but otherwise it was surprisingly easy. Here was my pretty standard weenie deck:

.1735 4 Carnophage
.1132 4 Vampire Lacerator
.466 4 Memnite
.1799 4 Akrasan Squire
.1558 4 Elite Vanguard
.1239 2 Isamaru, Hound of Konda
.213 4 Savannah Lions
.498 4 Serra Ascendant
.1822 2 Soltari Foot Soldier
.581 4 Soul Warden
.1804 4 Noble Hierarch
.421 2 Ghazbán Ogre
.1913 4 Dryad Arbor
.1163 4 Goblin Guide
.1916 4 Grim Lavamancer
.15 4 Birds of Paradise
.1361 2 Signal Pest

I was not able to tune this list because it won on the first try without a close match, turn 4 Emrakul 7 out of 10 games and an 1 on turn 5.

Here's one I did. Was super fun, which made up for it being a little less reliable than elves or the rainbow ideas...

4 Dryad Arbor
4 Mother of Runes
4 Serra Ascendant
4 Soul Warden
2 Thalia
4 Champion of the Parish
4 Akrasan Squire
4 Elite Vanguard
2 Sunscape Apprentice
4 Cathedral Sanctifier
4 Qasali Pridemage
2 Gaddock Teeg
4 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Mayor of Avabruck
4 Noble Hierarch
4 Scavenger Folk
2 Granger Guildmage

I found I needed massive artifact removal and Mother is really, really good against everything else. I really like the Mayor although he sat in my hand for 2-3 turns even after I could cast him because it's more important to push that Champion via exalted bonuses early. Gaddock wins vs Wrath...and it's funny :D Maybe take the Sanctifiers out and neither of the wizards were extremely helpful...until they were.

IfhBiff's deck is really super fun. Here is my variation of it that won the challenge too (curiously, I found no need for artifact removal).

.8916 4 Dryad Arbor
.10181 4 Noble Hierarch
.2494 2 Granger Guildmage
.12496 2 Ulvenwald Tracker
.2275 4 Elvish Spirit Guide
.11120 1 Fauna Shaman
.11843 1 Skinshifter
.4022 4 Mother of Runes
.11172 4 Serra Ascendant
.1557 4 Soul Warden
.11900 4 Champion of the Parish
.9911 4 Akrasan Squire
.12017 4 Mayor of Avabruck
.391 4 Abu Ja'far
.11087 3 Ajani's Pridemate
.11934 3 Doomed Traveler
.10412 2 Elite Vanguard
.11773 1 Alabaster Mage
.10331 4 Qasali Pridemage

so tired of this matchup. OF ALL THE CHALLENGES. They are mostly just luckbased which makes it even more frustrating and tedious. Yeah its all too easy and then you just get f'ed in the *ss on no 9-10. not even funny. and its all just dependent on your and your opp starting 7 since you need to have a streamlined deck to make it. i mean its a good idea but the way it is now its all just luck and frustrating as hell. i mean playing the AI sucks because its so stupid and the only way to make it harder is just giving them random goodstuff each turn? please. accept that this program is mainly for decktesting/goldfishing and just give us a freakin unlock button! /pissed

It has been discussed to unlock the cards for all other game plays and make the cards only locked in challenge but there is still work to be done.Until then see this post and ask for help to unlock them and probably Ozks at least will help you.

I just went and looked up my old deck for beating this challenge in case anyone wants another variant. Basically mono green elves as you may expect, but the Imperious Perfect s and Joraga Warcaller s give you some nice reach. Also I really enjoyed the addition of 4x Shriekmaw.

Losing a land with this deck is not too bad as long as you can get started. I don't recall having too much trouble with this one.

.149 4 Llanowar Elves
.15 4 Birds of Paradise
.11878 4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
.9366 4 Heritage Druid
.9831 4 Nettle Sentinel
.8916 4 Dryad Arbor
.10413 4 Elvish Archdruid
.1363 4 Elvish Visionary
.2275 4 Elvish Spirit Guide
.1293 4 Fyndhorn Elves
.9258 4 Shriekmaw
.10181 4 Noble Hierarch
.3860 4 Priest of Titania
.1461 4 Imperious Perfect
.10783 4 Joraga Warcaller

Was quite enjoying this game (esp sealed deck - v well done to all concerned) until the Dude challenge.

Fair enough making things tricky. But with such an absurd limitation on the player's deck, is it really fun to give all opponents the power nine, Wasteland and Path to Exile? I can only ever go 4-5 games before an opponent goes land, Mox, Sol Ring/Lotus, Path my Birds, Wasteland my City of Brass, gg. Giving up now.

Just used 240sxforever´s list and it went pretty well.

But i have to admit, that i used a little bug of Hertitage Druid to generate tons of mana, since he can tap tapped creatures as long as there are three untapped elves on your team.
