aww1979 used this deck to beat the challenge (found at the archive, might be outdated).

.587 4 Meditate
.1898 1 Lion's Eye Diamond
.327 4 Grim Tutor
.502 1 Hurkyl's Recall
.258 4 Underground Sea

Pretty simple tendrils deck. (if you can call tendrils simple :p) 4 Tendrils were included so that I could use Demonic Consultation on them, and just to make sure I draw the darn things. One Hurkyl's Recall felt right, rather than none or 2+. To keep the mana base stable, I left red out. (no Burning Wish or Wheel of Fortune) Time Walk was also left out because it is worse than useless in this format.
Also from the Archive - might be outdated.

An exact copy of the deck above worked for me.

I think timetwister might be not needed...I never was in a situation to cast it.

Something similar to Tendrils decks, but faster as you do not need to play lots of spells in order to win. You may win with as few as 3 spells.

It uses Ad Nauseam to draw all the cards, then wins by playing Laboratory Maniac followed by Ancestral Recall or Brainstorm (or possibly also Ponder, even if I never tried it as I was scared about the effects of scrying an empty deck).

This deck won eight rounds hands down.
Then the program crashed on round 9. :(

Also, winning with Laboratory Maniac gave rise to strange winning screens, followed by no increase in opponents' count, so it is possible that one never gets to the last and final duel. I posted it in the Bug Forum.

.258 4 Underground Sea
.1486 4 Polluted Delta
.3078 4 Ancient Tomb

Round 9 is the last round and it is the mirror match so at least one of your cards breaks AI.Time Spiral v2 is out which fixes a lot of AI crashes try it out.

Thanks Jaguar.
Unfortunately the bug(s) also happen in V2 and Gargaroz said they are hardcoded and unfixable now.
Ok, back to the drawing board... :)

Many thanks to YOU, kubiac470! You verified that the challenge can go to the last round even if the opponent's count does not seem to increase. And also that crash on round 9 is not a rule.

So, encouraged by your success, I too repeated the challenge, went to the last round... and won! (no crash this time).

Finding that Laboratory Maniac works in spite of its apparent bugs is a great find. Thank you very much!

When this happens you most probably have an illegal card for that challenge in your deck or more copies of a restricted one.

Re: Challenge 3-9 : The Perfect Storm

I'm having some success with this hot mess:

"Combo Soup"
4 Second Sunrise
4 Faith's Reward
1 Black Lotus
4 Chromatic Star
4 Kaleidostone
1 Fastbond
4 Savannah
4 Scrubland
4 Bayou
2 Forest
2 Swamp
6 Plains
2 Tendrils of Agony
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Squandered Resources
4 Krark-Clan Ironworks
1 Conjurer's Bauble
4 Ichor Wellspring
1 Skullclamp
4 Enlightened Tutor
1 Sol Ring

First you might see the Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward and assume that it's Eggs. But no! Then you see the Squandered Resources and guess ProsBloom. Wrong again! It's actually a storm deck! The Eggy bits are just to draw some cards and cast enough spells for a lethal Tendrils, the reason being that it kills faster than Prosperity/Stroke of Genius or an X-burn spell. Either of those would theoretically work, but I kept hitting the "No room in CD" limit.

This is, hands down, the most difficult and complicated deck I've ever played. I have no advice on when to mulligan. No lands, one land, and all land, probably, but beyond that is anyone's guess. What you'll be trying to do is cast Squandered Resources into Sunrise/Reward with some combination of artifacts that draw cards, turn cards into mana, Sunrise/Reward, repeat, Tendrils.

If you don't have Squandered Resources, make sure to put a stop on your upkeep if you're going to Enlightened Tutor for it (now that I think of it, Vampiric Tutor should be in here too). The Skullclamp is for your Pit Scorpion (you DID beat Pit Fighter, right?) but you can still throw it in the Ironworks for a profit if something unfortunate happened to it already. Don't forget to use a spare Enlightened Tutor to find the appropriate artifact for the moment, if you already have Squandered Resources out. Be careful you don't spend all your white mana (don't forget Chromatic Star and Kaleidostone can filter). If you double-click to cast or activate something with a Squandered Resources out and it asks you to "choose a land" make sure you cancel as clicking a land will crash the game.

You will get run over by goblins, the Sunrise/Reward will be Counterspelled, and you'll lose on turn four to triple Black Vise. Using the Archenemy card at the right time is important (you DO have an Archenemy card, right?); I prefer to use it either the turn before you get attacked for lethal (for obvious reasons) or the turn before you would otherwise go off- the reason being that some results do things that take a turn to be useful, such as put two lands into play tapped, or cause you to go off that turn, such as the one that Mana Flares.

I haven't beat the challenge yet but I think it's only a matter of time until I figure out how this thing works.

Okay, finally got it! Combo Soup just wasn't consistent enough although it's a lot of fun.

.1 1 Ancestral Recall
.1790 4 High Tide
.1393 4 Tidings
.1342 1 Time Spiral
.250 1 Timetwister
.17 1 Black Lotus
.230 1 Sol Ring
.126 15 Island
.3933 4 Turnabout
.3361 3 Dream Halls
.1395 1 Frantic Search
.3515 1 Mind Over Matter
.1558 4 Meditate
.4019 1 Memory Jar
.3919 1 Stroke of Genius
.1340 1 Palinchron
.1084 1 Merchant Scroll
.258 4 Underground Sea
.62 1 Demonic Tutor
.1519 1 Vampiric Tutor
.80 1 Fastbond
.252 4 Tropical Island
.7659 4 Ideas Unbound
.1547 1 Brainstorm

It's just a High Tide deck. Play High Tide over and over again, cast Turnabout to make a zillion mana, cheat with Dream Halls as hard as possible, cast Stroke of Genius to make the opponent draw 107 cards.

Palinchron + at least 12 mana from lands = infinite mana. Meditate doesn't seem to get along with Dream Halls (can't cast it or discard it). Dream Halls apparently exiles instead of discards like it says, so make sure not to expend any vital cards (basically all the 1-ofs). High Tide and Turnabout can be fetched with Merchant Scroll. Memory Jar makes a great "Get Out of Jail Free" card.

I was having consistency troubles with only 16ish draw spells (Tidings, Meditate, Time Spiral, Timetwister, Frantic Search, Memory Jar, Stroke of Genius, Merchant Scroll, Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor) until I added Ideas Unbound. Going from 1/4 of the deck being gas to 1/3 means every draw spell is now even money to draw another one. For this challenge in general Ideas Unbound is basically Ancestral Recall #s 2-5. And so is Meditate for that matter.

The last duel was pretty funny. The AI cast a Black Lotus and High Tide on turn ~3 into a Palinchron, then attacked the next turn and bounced it before damage. So you pretty much have as much time as you like to set up, although if you're about to be attacked by Palinchron for lethal you should probably go off that turn just to be safe. The last duel of this challenge being a mirror doesn't make much sense since the AI is terrible at combo decks.

Tried for a while with my own High Tide deck and it was just too variable. Mox's Ad Nauseam deck listed above just destroys this challenge. I simply swapped out his Flash Counter for a Pact of Negation and it went 10-0. Thanks Mox!
