I don't think I made a wither card for 2012 but I made the Midnight Banshee in the previous DOTP and I don't remember having problems with it. I just had it set against the trigger for a creature dealing combat damage, overrode the damage and placed the counters instead. Isn't the same possible in 2012 or is there more to it than I realise?

BTW don't know what's going on with the Steam timer (or perhaps my calculation yesterday) but Steam now says the game unlocks in 2 hours...
It's more to it. If you remove the damage, you cancel abilities like deathtouch. With wither the damage is done, then replaced, not canceled.
The lights then came up and the crowd erupted in applause, because that's what the crowd does after it watches destruction on a large screen.

thefiremind wrote:I have Persee's DLC but I can't seem to find that card, maybe I didn't download the latest update, anyway I think he did it with nabeshin's idea, which is still not the real deal, because the creature with infect clears all the damage on the victim before putting the -1/-1 counters and not only the damage it dealt (which would be impossible to achieve in DotP2012 anyway), so if a 4/4 blocks my 2/2 with infect, and I play a Shock on the 4/4 before the combat damage is dealt, the Shock damage will be cleared as well, and the 4/4 will be an alive 2/2 at the end of combat.
You are right about this one. It's canceling all the damage. Good bye infect it seems :(

thefiremind wrote:It seems to work well, but find a card where you can pay {1} infinite times (for firebreathing or regeneration or something like that), and let Sol Ring be the only available mana source remaining. You'll notice that, as long as you only pay {1} at a time, Sol Ring will never be tapped. The only way to fix it is to make 2 mana abilities each producing {1}. This should hopefully change in DotP2013, otherwise Cloudpost would be terribly bugged.
I discover it by accident and i did not used ever since, i am not surprised to hear is broken. M13 is ready to be downloaded since a few minutes ago, so finally we will know for sure what works.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cloudpost has the same problem as Sol Ring. It's only intended to pay an X-cost in an Encounter, after all.

There's a version by 3DM, and it works perfectly. The installer's entirely Chinese/Korean/whatever though (when you get at a point where there are 4 checkboxes including DirectX and Visual Basic, my recommendation is: uncheck them all, just to be sure), but the game's in English.

It seems custom DLCs are going to get annoying for this version. I haven't unpacked yet (I rather immediately raced here to give the information), but there are TONS of WADs. Besides Data_Core, there are DECK_(number)_(2 characters).WAD files, and it goes from 0001 to 0079. It starts with 11x ST (the 2 characters) which I suppose are the 10 playable decks and Nicol Bolas, then alot of CH's, which I suppose stands for Challenge: Encounter decks. Then 12x ST again: Revenge decks likely, and something extra. Then a PC = Planechase deck and 2x UT which is apparantly the tutorial (content can be read by opening with notepad, it just can't be edited. I've noticed something weird though, for instance: 0011 is Bolas's deck using only his regular colors, but I see Forests and Plains in it for some reason). Oh, and it skips some numbers.

EDIT: seems they use a different format this time, WadProgram.jar is stuck at "Reading file offsets...". And Gibbed Tools just crashes. So, let's hope someone can figure it out how to unpack them this time.

EDIT2: if you use headphones, keep the sound off until you turn sound effects way down. The sound effect when selecting things is 5x louder than the rest is. I learned that the hard way.

It seems THETA took care of it this time, instead of Skidrow.

Anyway, I managed to look inside the Xbox version (which was available some time before the PC version) and I saw that WADs have a different header, with some XML tags inside it. I guess we'll need a new packer/unpacker.

The following is a portion of what I can see from my hex editor (I opened one of the smallest files just to be quicker):

Say, Firemind, is it correct that the following Deck_(number)(etcetera)'s do NOT exist (00xx, with xx being the numbers below)?
12-19
22-23
34-35
38-40
44-45
72-76
80+
?

As I just find it strange they'd randomly skip numbers.

Same for the version I was looking into, except for the first gap, which is 17-19 for me.

Really? Weird how the version I got misses some. I wanted to say I'd try the THETA version then, but seems the one I downloaded IS THETA's. I suppose you looked at the XBOX instead the PC version?

Well, I did a test, and the first encounter fortunately works well. If it's ever possible, could you link to those missing wads? Perhaps they have some scrapped decks I can make available or something.

Haven't seen a card with it yet but I notice that one of the load screen tooltips makes mention of Phyrexian Mana and includes the proper symbol for it. Also one of the Plane cards in game does have "All creatures have {T}: Deal 1 Damage to target creature or player" so it looks like dynamic activated abilities are in. :)

The WAD version has changed (from 0x201 to 0x202) so the format has probably changed. I am investigating the format now and will be updating my tools.

Can anyone confirm if land cards go to the "side" with the artifacts and enchantments instead of correctly being next to the basic lands? Thanks

Changes are minimal: 0x202 only differs in that after the u16 magic, version there is now a 'xml header field' in form u32 xmlHeaderSize; u8 xmlHeaderData[xmlHeaderSize] which is a copy of the file HEADER.XML in the archive.

I'll have tools up soon, doing rewrites to improve code quality as compared to when I last worked on it, as well as prepping for providing a public repository and binaries as I do with my newer projects.

Not really think of the gaps as future expansions or corrections.
