Make sure you used the same art ID on both the stand-alone XML and the pool XML.

Well, this was strangely interesting. I decided to experiment by using the '{' symbol at the beginning of the card text and using the '}' at the end of the card text just to see what would happen and the Xbox-related content along with MTG content appeared. I'm not sure I've ever saw the 'Planeswalker' symbol in a DOTP game before but there it is. And at the beginning of each paragraph there is an arrow pointing down (I wonder why). But I am glad to know that Hybrid and Phyrexian symbols are there. Also, it may be far too early to ask, but what are the four lines with different ones glowing green and the strange darkened 6,7,and 8 symbols?

Oh, here is the card text as I've been testing it on DOTP 2014. Maybe someone can try to update a wiki reference for symbols if it's been created.

Interesting :) I wonder if we could make hybrid costs like Spectral Procession...

The "Planeswalker" symbol was in both DotP 2013 and DotP 2014 it is the "Planeswalk" symbol used for the planescape game mode (it was actually present in both black and white variants). The four box symbols with a different one green is probably a controller identifier symbol for consoles (which is controller 1 through 4). As for the darkened 6, 7, and 8 symbols they probably reference extra controller buttons on a platform (some controllers have extra buttons that can be mapped as desired so they are just referenced by number). The light down arrow is produced by "F" ("First" and "Frank") which is why thought it was at the beginning of each paragraph (though it isn't because your second paragraph starts with "W" which produces the {W} symbol).

I'm not really seeing anything new to add to the symbol list. Even then your test does not cover all possible symbols as characters like these can also produce symbols: <>?!@#$%^&*`~-=_+/\| The best test is to use a known string (usually in a specific order) with all standard printable characters in a specific order to map to symbols. You can even include spaces at regular intervals in the test string to make it obvious when you hit a character that may not have a symbol.

Your test does highlight one thing that I did not know though: You can insert multiple subsequent symbols into text with a single set of brackets around multiple characters.

Mono-colored hybrid costs are still missing their textures, I tested {2/U} a couple of days ago.

hey firemind i have a couple friends gonna try hacking the .ZED file, these guys do nothing but hack games so we might have a anwser soon. but no promises these guys are highly devoted to breaking games just to make trainer/save editors so they may come up with the anwser.

Apparently there was an update on steam yesterday. It seems to have fixed quite a few bugs.

Just waiting for someone to succeed in cracking the zed and giving us a utility to pack and unpack them. I believe Rick, who gave us the gibbed tools we've been using for previous versions, is planning to attempt it, but he might not have had time yet.

I believe the encrypted files are just one little step from being a 'modable' game. I've scanned the executable memory for text strings with cheat engine to see what are the paths/files and I've seen a new directory for their deck builder. there's also a way to skip the logo movies when you start the game by putting a blank .BIK in \MOVIES. other than that, I didn't succeed doing anything useful. We can still hope but it will take a lot of work to fit into what I call "mod friendly" :)

It appears that the expansion is out:
http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/ar ... 2014-10-21
and here's the card list:
http://www.examiner.com/article/magic-2 ... -card-list
No exciting cards modding-wise... if we can ever start to care about it again.

EDIT: Somehow in the Wizards article they were talking like the expansion is already out, but according to this:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/20/ ... next-month
it will be out on November 5th.

Have a look here: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=14214&start=135#p156311
See if you can figure it out from that. If not, let us know. It's a relatively simple process once you know what you're doing. Basically, you remove all of the cards you AREN'T substituting, and leaving in ONLY the modified cards.
