Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 On iPad now

For those that have an iPad you can search for Magic 2015 and download it. Things to note is that the premium boosters are $1.99 for 10 cards each.

Now I'm worried. I have never opened an iPad version of a previous DotP game, but this time I downloaded it even if I don't have an iPad, just to see what's inside, and... no WAD files! The big files are called AUDIO_000.ZED, DATA_000.ZED, MOVIES_000.ZED. Is there something I don't know that should be done to those files, or did they totally change format?

I don't have an ipad, try downloading the 2014 trial version see if that has wads. Although I am sure they do, its possible that they figured out how we mod and did change the file types....

I'm always pessimistic about things but I don't have a good feeling about this either. For one, they switched to more of a mircotransaction model this year with the premium boosters so it would make sense on their part to beef up the security on the game so people couldn't just unlock the premiums for free. If what folks are speculating is correct the premiums are 3 times the cost of the base game.

Also, the new open deck building change was dodgy as well. The switch away from the pre-cons had me worried to begin with.

But who knows, I regularly don't know what I'm talking about. If we can't mod 2015 though, it was to at least pretend I knew how to code. I would need to find a new hobby.

in DotP2014, ipad and pc's file is exactly the same. i see this in MOVIES_000.ZED, just seems to be packaged with a new way, but DATA_000.ZED seems to be encrypted. as in previous years, have to wait for a new tool.

I hope we can find a way to decrypt the zed files. Or a way to edit what cards you have received from boosters.

The game on iPad requires IAPs at a very early stage! There is a tutorial and then 4 Innistrad matches and that's it for free. Continuing the campaign to Theros is a purchase, as is "Explore Innistrad", Practice Duel and Multiplayer. Maybe this is well known (I pretty much tuned out until I saw 2015 was released) but the basic iPad game is a very limited demo until you get your wallet out. I've read people praising 2015 on iPad for being a stability improvement, I didn't play previous versions on iPad but I do know that the pace of gameplay is pretty slow compared to the PC on my iPad 2. Also the "select which set of lands to tap" is a little suspect, more than once I've seen it suggest lands of all one colour by default and unless you are paying attention to change that, you may be unable to cast your next spell in a 2 colour deck! On the deckbuilding side, while out of the box you can only manage one deck, it looks like you can build and manage more than one deck from your global set of cards.

I only loaded up the iPad version to get a preview, it's the PC version I'll be buying so that's all I'll uncover for now. I can't wait to see what modability is avaiable and how much it will support freeform play, I wish you guys the best of luck in finding out since that kind of thing is completely beyond me!

The good thing about the deck building features is the ability to delete if you don't like it...concerning modding, I can see that we can finally have one absolute wad or whatever just to add cards and another for maybe manual mana and or planeswalkers. Then everyone can just post Decklists instead of separate ways

I just installed the Steam version of the game, and the files follow a similar format to the iPad version, with AUDIO_000.ZED, DATA_000.ZED, and MOVIES_000.ZED as the largest files.

Bah, I tried to reset my game and buy new boosters. It gives you exactly the same cards.
