D12 not extractable?

Postby BaneslayerMilkingCow » 17 Jun 2011, 12:09

Has anyone else tried extracting the (core) data file for the new D12? Mine crashes every time right after
DATA_CORE\DATA_ALL_PLATFORMS\DATA_REQUIRED\CARDS\GATE_TO_THE_?THER_243017.XML

I take it it's the Æ character that's causing it? #-o

I extracted it with the Wad Tool...

Kev linked it somewhere, but I can't find the link atm.

Forgot to say I used Gibbed Tools as well, yeah.

The WadProgram.jar seems to do the trick, thanks.

Does your game run with the extracted DATA_CORE folder?
I get a [ERROR_WAD_CORRUPTED].

I tried repackaging the folder with WadProgram.jar, but it seems to never stop compressing.

Gibbed.Duels.Pack will pack it, but same error. For some reason, the DATA_CORE.WAD made by Gibbed is a few hundred kbs larger. I have no idea how to bypass that corruption error, but going offline and verifying the game cache in steam does not work.

(That confirmation code thing with the pictures is glitchy and seriously annoying)

:edit: D12 version of Gibbed here - http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4640
however, even packed with Gibbed the corruption error appears. Don't know if it's of relevance, but neither the .jar or Gibbed's tools will actually the compress the files.

Does anyone know if the "offline" installations of D12 checks for tampered .wad files? Did the one for the old DotP?

Hello, I'm gibbed.

There's an encrypted SHA256 signature on WAD files to validate them for 2012, I'm working on that now, until it's broken 2012 will refuse to load any WADs without a valid signature. 2010 didn't have this checking.

(the CAPTCHA on this site is horrible, took five tries to register and six tries to post this)

Sounds very sexy :) I hope you find a way to break it. I find something's just... off about D12's decks.

Hello Rick (Gibbed!). It's very exciting to have you here! Sorry about the CAPTCHA, unfortunately spambots are getting better and better, so we're forced to inconvenience our users even more. And in spite of everything, we still deal with spambots a few times a week

Anyway I'm glad you stuck it out, I know it's tempting to say "aw the hell with it" and move on when faced with such obstacles.

But, now that you're here, if you need anything please PM me and I'll take care of it.

PS I wonder why they added WAD encryption this time around? 8-[

It's not encryption of content, just an encrypted signature to say "I am official content".

Ah, that should make things easier for you then. :)

BTW, a few more posts and your CAPTCHAs will go away: viewtopic.php?p=61330#p61330

Also, interesting stuff: on startup, the game downloads a WAD from wizards.com depending on your language:

http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataEn.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataFr.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataEs.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataDe.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataIt.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataPt.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/steam/DownLoadDataJa.zip

I also found the PS3 versions:

http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataEn.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataFr.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataEs.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataDe.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataIt.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataPt.zip
http://media.wizards.com/gamedata/d12/ps3/DownLoadDataJa.zip

(note: as I said before, this is actually a WAD file, not a ZIP file)
