A way to disable the "continue-" and "promo screens"?

Postby BaneslayerMilkingCow » 15 Jul 2012, 09:58

Hi everyone, and I gotta say great with the speedy and well done D13 modding. It's great work, and I hope you all keep doing what you do best.

Now what I'm wondering, is how to disable the "continue screens" in D13? For example the FNM promo screens after defeating the computer in Campaign, and the presentations (more like blatant advertisement) of the respective planeswalkers as you fight them. Also the post-loading "click to continue" before every single player match.

I don't think that the post-loading "click to continue" can be disabled without messing with the executable (and I don't know if someone here can do that). About the FNM promo screens, I think that something could be done by editing the campaign XML files, but given my experience with campaign modding, I'm afraid that the campaign would stop working after messing with it.

I tried to make a WAD that disables the FNM promo screens by replacing the campaigns with identical copies except for the lack of the "promo" tags. Extract the zip in your DotP2013 directory and see if it works. If something goes wrong, you can always delete it, and all will return back to normal.

Awesome. I'll give it a shot and see if you helped ease my Magic OCD.

Talking about annoying things to disable, I just tested that if you want to disable the cinematics (I tested only the starting ones, I think that the planeswalkers' presentations won't give problems either), you can brutally delete them from the Movies directory: the game won't complain. I actually saved copies in a ZIP file, just to have a backup.

OK, this will totally eliminate the loading screen before the duel: you'll see the game freezing for a bit (the amount of time depends on the PC, I guess) and then you'll be directly inside the duel.

I just had to include nabeshin's discover on my old WAD and nothing else, so thank him for this!

I took a fast read and tryed the PromoDisable
I noticed that it deleted the image before a match (as already wrote  ) but it is an aesthetic choice? Because the game speed seems the same

With the loading screen you need to click for entering the match, this way you don't need to.
