Sure hope it's true. Would further prove we can look for card characteristics on cards in any zone, which would be amazing.

EDIT: Personally, I am a little more interested currently in whether or not we will have to add sealed deck cards via a whole other deck, or if all cards in playable decks will be available in the pool for sealed.

New article from top tier tactics:

http://www.toptiertactics.com/18820/e3- ... pressions/

Each player receives two slots for sealed decks, each with its own nine-booster pool. If gamers want to expand their options or bet on lady luck, they can purchase additional sealed deck slots (up to a maximum of 18, 20 total) for $2 each. The representatives at Wizards were certain in saying that slots are account bound, so players wouldn’t be able to delete their sealed decks and start fresh. Whether that’s true or not, I’ll let the hackers decide. Duels has never been a series well known for data security.
While we’re on that point, I should mention that Promo Unlocks (extra cards beyond the base unlockables) will be making a return in Magic 2014.
I was disappointed to learn no other real tweaks were made. Priority is still a first come, first serve affair (in contrast to the real rules of Magic), and timers all seem to be tied to the same default speed. I was really hoping to learn that players would have more time for complicated actions (like assigning blockers) and less time for stupid effects (like Rite of Replicated Soul Wardens). And even though players have complete control over their land counts in Sealed Deck mode, that option is not available with the game’s preconstructed piles.

Well, that's kind of bull... I am sure we will be able to hack around it on PC (probably as simple as deleting the deck), but if you get a horrible set of packs on a console version... or 20 horrible sets of packs... guess you're screwed out of a whole chunk of the game.

They'll probably start charging people $20 to clear out all of their sealed decks (no option to do just one lol) 6 months after the game's been out.

Was kinda glad I already got my copy paid for, not going to bother with the sealed deck slots right away, going to hope that we can unlock those another way. When they make a relatively bug-free game, with fewer limits (token and +1/+1 counters, engine limitations are a whole other discussion), and no crashing I may consider their DotP games to be possible worth $40-60. With the price tag of $10, I am expecting bug city again... and they are totally over-charging for the sealed deck slots. Sure it's cheaper than making a real sealed deck, but at least then you would HAVE the cards and be able to trade or sell them for something in return/// so maybe it's about the same really...

"Account bound"? Is this World of Warcraft or DotP? Well, it won't be a big deal for us once we start to get the modding scene running on the new game. :)

Yes, Snapcaster Mage is a very good sign of what we'll be able to do, but I'm also interested in Temporal Mastery: could it mean that we'll have control over the card frame again?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Commandeer is cool as well: unless they built a function that binds the new target choice with taking control of the spell, we should be able to code Deflection and similar effects the same way!

I'm also interested in Cryptic Command, does this mean we will be able to have 4 choices for multiple choice questions (I hope so, otherwise this card will be a pain to play for the player)? Will we be able to select multiple options from the selection (probably not, but we can hope)?

Uh, you have said what I wanted.
Jund Charm has in the main deck, AI of D14 should be much higher than D13, maybe in the next year Cryptic Command can also in the main deck, by that time Planeswalker is not impossible. :)

Not sure where to post this (we need a DotP14 sub forum) but I am seeing comments of players drawing the exact same cards from sealed even after deleting all the game data and reisntalling. it even happens across platforms if they share the same name.... So what you draw is indeed tied to your username so we may not be able to create our own sealed pools...

Hard to say, but this could mean that the "random" draw is seeded by a hash of the username (not truly random). In which case it would make sense getting the same cards. Though if the pool changes then the draws should also change.

Of course it could also be that the cards you get from the sealed pools are saved on a server somewhere the first time you get the cards and simply reloaded from there if the username is the same. In this case even if the pool changes you will be stuck with the same cards because the list is being retrieved from a server which doesn't know about the changed pool. If the pool changes before the first draw in sealed then it might cause problems if the player gets a card that the server doesn't know about (then again it might not depending on how the server handles the data). Though it could also lead to problems if cards in the changed pool become unavailable for whatever reason.

I don't want to open another topic for "DotP 2014: first impressions", so I'll just use this one. :P

Here's what I noticed after some matches:
  • The first opponent (Chandra, not counting tutorials of course) is tough! I had to use the ramp in order to win, which feels a bit like cheating. (Be aware that I didn't want to add unlockables to the decks because Chandra should be theoretically beatable without them.)
  • The AI does things that it never made before: Chandra often kills her own Magma Phoenix when she wants to wipe the board from weenies.
  • Exiled cards can be browsed! They are rendered near the graveyard, in shades of gray, with an "X" badge on them.
  • We'll need to get used to confirm the choices when we browse libraries (and probably during other kinds of choices): while we just needed to click on the chosen cards before, now the game wants us to click on the "confirm" button. It's a good thing, no more misclicks.
