Maybe I'm too traditionalist, but I don't like them at all... for me, a sliver is a creature with snake-like body, pointy head and 2 pointy arms, that gives some ability to every sliver on the battlefield. :(

I am new to Magic so I don't have that nostalgia. Anyways, more info and pictures:

This is from the XBOX version. Notice the trigger button next to the lands? Seem like are getting the ability to choose our own land settings. :D

More minimal information:

http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/12/431409 ... lkers-2014

Magic 2014's new big feature is a mode called Sealed Play. This option allows players to build their own deck for the very first time by unwrapping virtual booster packs and selecting a 40-card deck from an 84-card pool. For those looking to jump in immediately, the mode also features a deck autobuild option. Sealed Play is noobie friendly; the mode includes plenty of hints, tips and optional tutorials for those in need of them.
Unlike previous games, Dixon said, Magic 2014 will include "a lot more story infused into the game." Players will assist Chandra Nalaar, a planeswalker who uses the power of fire. Chandra's quest for revenge will play out in a series of in-game videos. Players can learn more about the various places they'll travel through additional information on opponents and locations. Magic 2014's new plane of existence is just part of how Wizards of the Coast keeps the game fresh, Dixon said.
Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 will launch this summer for $9.99 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC, iPad and Android tablets. The game will be virtually identical across all platforms, with the exception of controls.
I quoted the only points of interest

I can say the same about Planeswalkers: I have quit with paper Magic (only played casually with friends anyway) just before they invented them, that's why I never missed them too much in DotP games. And I'm sure they still won't be implemented in DotP2014, as the (scary) title of the article you quoted suggests: "Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 breaks down the game's complications". As DotP versions go on, probably about DotP2020 or so, they'll start to include only vanilla creatures, otherwise the game would be soooooooo complicated... #-o

But I already started to fantasize about the sealed mode. Hoping that there won't be engine limitations in our way, I think it will be super-fun to create new sets of cards to generate the boosters from. We could recreate whole blocks (well, at least with the cards we'll be able to code) and play in sealed mode with those different environments. Too bad we would really need better support for multi-color mana sources in order to make a good Ravnica, RTR or Alara block... and I don't think we'll get it.

I laughed at the title after I read the article.

That would be too complicated for new players. In fact, I love how the game is called Duels of the Planeswalkers yet they refuse to add planeswalkers because they don't want to confuse new players. #-o

Anyways, a few more crumbs of information:

http://sticktwiddlers.com/2013/05/09/ma ... s-preview/

Platform-specific promotions that will include 6-card Booster Decks featuring the following promo cards: Steam, iPad, Android tablet – Scavenging Ooze, Xbox – Bonescythe Sliver, and PSN – Ogre Battledriver

Special Edition Release including the base game and exciting mix of additional content (Steam only)

Loyalty Offer for players who previously purchased Magic 2013 (Steam and Xbox only)
The PvE experience includes a six-deck ladder where players take on mono-colored Sealed decks each corresponding with a particular Planeswalker, and finally facing a ‘boss’ Sealed deck.
Wizards of the Coast are also appealing to the fan-favourite creature, Slivers, with a whole new feature that introduces playable Slivers into the Magic 2014 deck. A new sorcery, Hive Stirrings, will also appear in the deck and will allows players to create Sliver tokens. Slivers scheduled to appear in the game include:
Sliver Construct
Predatory Sliver
Groundshaker Sliver
Megantic Sliver
Blur Sliver
Striking Sliver
Thorncaster Sliver
Battle Sliver
Sentinel Sliver

In essence, Magic 2014 - Duels of the Planeswalkers is the series' biggest upgrade, encouraging players to transition to the wonderful (and rewarding) world of deck-building. You'll be able to get your hands on this enticing new set before the release of the Magic 2014 Core Set on July 19th. Look for it on your PC, PS3, 360, Android, and iPad devices. For more info, check out the following slides
Under the 6th picture:

Expect to see plenty of Dragons and Slivers in Magic 2014, though Planeswalker cards are still off the table lest they complicate things for newcomers
I hope that is just speculation.....

New update from Sean_wizards:

"There's been a correction on the size of the Sealed card pool (was 180+, is now 151), plus I've added the allocation of the various rarities. Sorry for the confusion."
So less cards now...

Significant rule changes on their way to Magic 2014 (and DotP2014 of course):

Of course the changes to the legendary rule are the most significant, but "indestructible" becoming a keyword just means more localised text of old cards to tweak for me.

Well, assuming Pathrazor of Ulamog is properly implemented (and not just a hack) that will definitely give us some more options for modding.

At least we have something close to it, since its in an actual deck I assume its not a hack.
