Does granting hexproof in an instant in DOTP 2013 possible like Vines of Vastwood?



example scenario: opponent cast lightning bolt to my 1/1 creature, I respond with Vines of Vastwood (unkicked) to make my 1/1 creature cannot be the target of spells of opponents ( hexproof ), making lightning bolt spell fizzles because it has an illegal target.

I never tried, but theoretically it should work, since Ring of Evos Isle is also able to give hexproof instantly.
