Both of the completed matches for round 1 are very close. I see that I would have lost except the AI won 1 match playing my deck!

Could you replay this one, with Jundinator vs TheDrigo's deck? I missed it when I did the brackets originally, and you must have missed the post where I mentioned this. I posted thedrigo's deck a page or two back.monopoman wrote:[b]Match F:

I haven't posted my results yet, but I have finished just the Bracket A so far (Juzamjedi won 2-0 and Serbitar 2-1, so it doesn't change the results). I'm going to get lots of play done today, so my results should still come for Saturday.aww1979 wrote:Bracket A Final Scoring:

Bracket B Final Scoring:

No other brackets are finished yet. Juzamjedi and Salbei will play each other in round 2, unless anybody finds a mistake in the scorekeeping.

I don't remember the exact situation, but I guess I was worried about not getting my own game plan together fast enough - I probably didn't have Natural Order in hand yet.juzamjedi wrote:I know this was several pages back, but I'm curious about this play. If Faerie tokens cannot block Progenitus then why bother countering Bitterblossom on T2?Serbitar wrote:2nd game, I keep a sketchy one lander with mutiple Hierarch and Coiling Oracle. I Force t2 Bitterblossom, but AI resolves another t3. Meanwhile I have enough mana for Natural Order into Progenitus, which wins.
Oh yeah, and congratulations to juzamjedi for beating me

Wow, I really am a dumbass today. (this week? month?) Apparently I can't even count properly. Ignore what I said above about brackets A and B; we'll wait until Shantak is finished :pShantak wrote:I haven't posted my results yet, but I have finished just the Bracket A so far (Juzamjedi won 2-0 and Serbitar 2-1, so it doesn't change the results). In my playtesting my goal was that AI can play this deck too. I tried Entomb, but I saw AI use it only once in five games. Same thing happened with Buried Alive. Reanimate I had to cut only to two, because AI sometimes killed itself with it. I didn't think Wild Mongrel at all, could have been good though. And creatures I had to keep in RGB so they could be hardcasted also. Elvish Piper was second winning method, I don't really like to stick only on one winning method.thedrigo wrote:The main problem I had with the Reanimator deck was getting creatures in the 'yard... Maybe something fast like Entomb or Wild Mongrel would have been a better fit than Stinkweed Imp?
I really like Stinkweed Imp because flying, deathtouch and low cc. I thought that it could kill early big Tarmos and Figure of Destiny and other fast and big creatures and stall the battle if reanimating was in trouble, so it has multiple uses. Sadly this Meta is centered around Natural Order and Progenitus and it can't block it.
I accidentally send older version of my deck to competition. It should have four Birds of Paradise and one less of each big creature, so hardcasting could be easier. Problem with that is AI usually wastes Animate Dead to those and don't wait for better target.

Bracket F redone
As TheDrigo 2:1 (TheDrigo +1pt)
1st game, I have T1 Cobra into T2 Natural Order, AI has no immediate Edict, so I win.
2nd game, AI removes my first guys, I counter his first, but then I draw nothing and get killed by Broodmate Dragon (note: if there were a Dryad Arbor in the Deck, I could have cast Natural Order 3 times)
3rd game, an early Progenitus does the AI in.
As aww1979 Jundinator 0:2 (TheDrigo +5pts)
1st game, Progenitus and creatures to protect him from Edict win for AI.
2nd game, we exhaust our early ressources and get into topdecking, the AI with Noble Hierarch on board, I with nothing. AI topdecks Natural Order, I topdeck land...

Could you doublecheck and let me know what you got? Thanks.
bit confusid about the scoring here.
a) taron +3 as I won 2-1 with brandon's deck and 2-0 with taron's. is this correct scoring?
b) cuddles: +5 for a 0-2 versus the AI? sure, if that is the way we score then 7 would be correct. I had it at 4 (2-0 win and 0-2 loss in the rematch for 2 points each) but incorrectly typed 2.

Scoring:
If the deck wins 2-0, it gets 2 points
If the deck wins 2-1, it gets 1 point
If the deck loses 1-2, the AI deck gets 3 points.
If the deck loses 0-2, the AI deck gets 5 points.
Thus, in theory, a deck could get 7 points from one player in one bracket, if it wins every game both as human and AI.
If it confuses anybody, just post how you did playing with each deck in each bracket, and I'll do the score.

Dryad Arbor was tested to be in the deck, but the damn AI kept chump blocking with it, making it completely useless. That in addition to the summoning sickness just meant it was basically a missed land drop 90% of the time.Serbitar wrote:2nd game, AI removes my first guys, I counter his first, but then I draw nothing and get killed by Broodmate Dragon (note: if there were a Dryad Arbor in the Deck, I could have cast Natural Order 3 times)

Match G
Discorandom vs Shantak 2-0
Shantak vs Discorandom 2-0
Discorandom: 2 points
Shantak: 2 points
Match 1 (Shantak AI)
Game 1: AI sucks with some cards, doesn’t want to play Duress, etc. so it was an easy win.
Game 2: It was just too easy.
Match 2 (Discorandom AI)
Game 1: I had a solution for everything AI played and Phyrexian Arena, Bitterblossom paired with Eldrazi Monument and Garruk Wildspeaker was enough to win.
Game 2: Discard made Ivory tower nigh useless but 2 Bitterblossom, Phyrexian Arena, Eldrazi monument and Grave Pact were too much.

Match H
Nyktorion vs Yggdrasil 1-2
Yggdrasil vs Nyktorion 2-0
Nyktorion: 0 points
Yggdrasil: 5 points
Match 1 (Yggdrasil AI)
Game 1: Grim Lavamancer was the key to victory.
Game 2: I was quite mana screwed but had an excellent hand and had the AI at 3 but then I couldn’t remove Balefire Liege for a few rounds, it got an army out and finished at 21.
Game 3: This time I was mana flooded but had great cards, unfortunately the AI had lots of removal and by the time I got something to play AI had Balefire Liege in play and quickly ended it.
Match 2 (Nyktorion AI)
Game 1: AI had me down to half with his army but Kor Firewalker stabilized me and 2 Balefire Liege were just too much for the AI to handle.
Game 2: Quick and aggro start paired with Balefire Liege made this a no contest.
I finished the first round of the testing and the results (in points) are as follows:
Juzamjedi vs Serbitar: 1-2
Salbei vs Schreben: 1-1
Aww1979 vs Jatill: 5-3
Brandon vs Taron: 1-2
Cognis vs Monopman: 2-2
Aww1979 vs Thedrigo: 7-0
Discorandom vs Shantak: 2-2
Nyktorion vs Yggdrasil: 0-5
I uploaded my report sheet so you don't have to go searching for reports how your deck did. Even though this was a random pairing it's interesting how the first half of the draw has Progenitus type decks while the second part has zoo-ish decks more or less and it seems they might even collide in the finals. If I am to judge by the current results it seems that both Aww1979 decks and Yggdrasil should be the top contenders but only one can make it to the final and Aww1979 Jundinator has to get pass my RWG deck (I don't want to be presumptuous and declare myself the winner in the mach but as far as I saw I have some 15 point advantage after 7-8 people tested the decks so I believe that I will progress further) and I hope it will not surrender without a fight although I think Jundinator is a slight favourite, but I was wrong before, let's hope I am again

Bracket "E"
Match 1: Cognis (ME) vs Monopman (AI)
Game 1: WIN. AI manascrewed. Easy win.
Game 2: WIN. AI never really got anything going for itself and was overrun.
Match 2: Monopman (ME) vs Cognis (AI)
Game 1: WIN. AI stuck at one land. Turn 1 Lackey. Turn 2 attack into Siege-Gang Commander, cast Dragon Fodder. Turn 3 Goblin Bushwacker. Turn 4 Goblin Bushwacker #2 = Game Over.
Game 2: WIN. Unfair amount of goblins and good draws crushed the AI.
Cognis +2
Monopman +2
Bracket "F"
Match 1: TheDrigo (ME) vs Aww1979 (AI)
Game 1: WIN. Turn 2 Progenitus and FoW'ed Diabolic Edict crushed the AI.
Game 2: LOSE. Mulligan to 5 gives me one land and no acceleration. Got overrun.
Game 3: WIN. Turn 2 Progenitus and no Diabolic Edict. Lights out on turn 4.
Match 2: Aww1979 (ME) vs TheDrigo (AI)
Game 1: WIN. AI "conceded" the way people were talking about before; playing only lands... I peeked and it had 2 FoWs, 1 counterspell and 2 Goyfs in hand with 4 lands in play and didn't play anything.
Game 2: LOSE. Meddling Mage banned Diabolic Edict on turn 2. I drew no removal in the face of turn 3 Progenitus. I was eaten alive 2 turns later.
Game 3: LOSE. Turn 2 Progenitus removed with Diabolic Edict, but the AI dropped another one on turn 4 and it was over for me after both Broodmate Dragon and its token were Path'ed.

Bracket "G"
Match 1: Disco (ME) vs Shantak (AI)
Game 1: WIN. Beautiful curve. Turn 2 Tidehollow Sculler, Turn 3 Shrieking Grotesque, Turn 4 Solemn Simulacrum, Turn 5 Baneslayer. AI discarded Damnation to the Grotesque... Tsk Tsk Tsk.
Game 2: WIN. AI killed itself with 3 Bitterblossoms and 1 Phyrexian Arena.
Match 2: Shantak (ME) vs Disco (AI)
Game 1: WIN. Long, uneventful first 5 turns: AI threw some discard at me, not taking anything relevant. Got Eldrazi Monument and Bitterblossom online and started pumping out the Garruk tokens out and they bashed the AI's head in.
Game 2: WIN. AI was flooded. The only cards it played were Shrieking Grotesque and Hymn to Tourach and it got clobbered by Garruk tokens again.
