Without getting everyone together to pick cards for 4-5 hours we will never get this done. having 1 day or so between picks is ridiculous when your drafting nearly 2000 cards.

480 cards at 60 per drafter, we're not drafting until we've picked all of Manalink! And if we're all satisfied with our picks after X number of rounds we can quit early.
Grinnin wasn't even sure the spot was open, I started it up about 4 hours after he posted. This will be slow at first, please be patient!

I am plenty patient I just don't want to see this thing go over like 60 days
.
lol
Really if everyone could get in a chat/skype/vent/messenger session together at one time we could knock out a couple hundred cards or more in like 4 hours.

In my opinion we should make the number of singleton picks go through round 7. The top 3 picks will get the most powerful choices period so giving 3 at a time to the bottom picks seems like a reasonable way to balance the draft a little. I will point out this does not impact me at all since I'm right in the middle, but it should be a net positive overall change I think.
Edit: I'm open to the idea of chatting with all of you live in a chat room, IRC etc. I am EST and would need to do the live portion at night time (say, 6PM - 1AM) or on a weekend. Not sure how to make that work.

I can be around pretty much whenever, tho exactly how and when to get us all together is beyond me for the moment . .
While trying to take over the world earlier my PC crashed and refused to reboot, no safemode either. While running the windows repair thing I noticed that my C and D drives had been reversed. So yeah . . how that happens I have no idea, but I should be up and running again tomorrow (I hope)!

I'm pretty sure that no matter how hard we try, we won't be able to get eight guys all around the world into the same chat room at the same time.
How about then, to speed up the drafting, let's do each round - or the singleton picks at least - with card lists. Everyone of us sends a list of X cards in order of drafting preference to someone (would you be willing to do this, Nicdanger?), where X is your position in this round of drafting. The one with all the lists then updates the spreadsheet and posts the results of the first round of drafting here. Then we do the next round from the reverse direction, and so the guy who was second and listed two cards the first round, now goes seventh and lists seven cards in his list.
I'm pretty sure you understood what I mean here, but let's do a quick example just to be more clear:
Drafting lists in order of card preference, round 1:
Drafter #1: Ancestral Recall
Drafter #2: Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus
Drafter #3: Black Lotus, Sol Ring, Ancestral Recall
Drafter #4: Necropotence, Black Lotus, Demonic Tutor, Mox Jet
Drafter #5: Black Lotus, Mox Sapphire, Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, Timetwister
Drafter #6: Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, Mox Sapphire, Time Walk, Timetwister, Sol Ring
Drafter #7: Sol Ring, Time Vault, Tolarian Academy, Mishra's Workshop, Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Mana Drain
Drafter #8: Black Lotus, Sol Ring, Mox Sapphire, Mox Jet, Mox Emerald, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Lion's Eye Diamond
What everybody drafts after someone goes through the lists (better not post the actual lists, I think):
Drafter #1: Ancestral Recall (1st on the list)
Drafter #2: Black Lotus (2nd on the list)
Drafter #3: Sol Ring (2nd on the list)
Drafter #4: Necropotence (1st on the list)
Drafter #5: Mox Sapphire (2nd on the list)
Drafter #6: Time Walk (4th on the list)
Drafter #7: Time Vault (2nd on the list)
Drafter #8: Mox Jet (4th on the list)
This way would me much quicker, though it gets little annoying when drafting three cards at once, where the eighth drafter would need to list 24 cards just to be sure there are no doubles (maybe we could divide the round into two drafts of four players at a time then).
How does this sound to you?

Seems like a good idea to me.

I won't need that I check this site like every 1 hour at the most.
My picks will likely be faster then anyone else unless everyone does this.

Still the same guy? Maybe PM him for his pick?
I'll probably be the same way I don't get to check as often since I work a regular day job.

Well if everyone takes this long we will be done sometime in 2012
.

Maybe we could have a 12 hour time limit. If you don't pick inside 12 hours of the last pick you're moved one place down. It's a reasonable time limit since you'd have to check the thread only two-three times a day.

I agree with the 12-hour limit.

Now that I have my PC back in working order (almost), I'm about ready to scrap this and try again if we can get everyone together in a chat room or something.
The 12 hours thing is a good idea, but after 2 days I assume Grinnin is out and we're short a drafter anyway.

Let's just continue and move the order up one spot and keep the last spot open until we get another player.
