I'll pick... Natural Order and Progenitus.

I'm not quite sure what I'm drafting, but it's bound to become interesting, pretty much like all the decks here.

And since Jatill picks Voltaic Key, next is Aww1979 again.

Edit: good thing I checked this thread just before going to bed.

I have a general sense of where my draft is heading, but I need to land a couple of key picks. So obv. they are going to get snatched up by someone else first :P

I pick Imperial Seal for my 5th (4th was Vampiric Tutor as a reminder since the spreadsheet isn't updated as of this post) as Jatill already declared Voltaic Key in advance if available.

@shantak: Heh, I wouldn't have expected those picks, given your earlier ones. I was toying with the idea of some of those ones, but I can take pretty much any fatties for Oath, and strangely I didn't even think of Natural Order, though I don't think I'm going to use many small creatures, so it isn't too big a deal for me.

We've got 3 players fighting over what appears to be monoblue so far, so that might get interesting :p I thought about splashing blue mostly for Tinker but when that got snatched up I decided I won't bother with blue. I'll probably stick green/black and just have fun with it :p

For my next selection I take: Gush. I cannot believe that jatill is going to have a legit 1st round selection drop to him. I guess he is signaling better and no one cares to fight over it =D>

Next up is Monopoman.

Whoops! You were right of course. Glad to see we have a couple people online right now so maybe I will get a chance to make another pick before I go to bed :)

I didn't even really think about the signalling idea (I just had to read up on what people meant by it now) but fortunately the people next to me in the draft aren't playing my colours, at least so far. My two competitors so far for green/black are cognis and grinnin, who are both as far from me in position as possible, and even there, I'll probably be taking considerably different cards than they are, other than the staples that work in any deck. (which was why I'd intended my first pick to be Sol Ring until Jatill took it, and took Black Lotus as my actual first pick; they work in basically any deck, and I wanted to delay my decision of picking a colour as long as possible)

The reason I started grabbing all the black tutors as my next picks was 1) tutors are good when you have no duplicates in your deck and 2) I was worried grinnin might take them, whereas I'm pretty sure Cognis is going for different kinds of green cards than I am. We might squabble a bit over the green restricted cards, but otherwise probably won't get in each other's way.

I'm still not exactly sure how I'm going to build this deck, I'm just taking solid general purpose cards for now.

A question, then: Since we're taking our sweet time drafting these decks, how about we do more with them than just simple one-month tournament where there are two groups of four first, then two best advance and so on. We could do some sort of full league type play where every deck would face against each other at least once (preferably at least twice). Each round of four matchups could take one week and we could keep a scoreboard and collect all the points, wins and losses there.

How does this sound to you? If you're interested, I could be initially offering to do the scheduling and keeping up scores. After giving this much effort to deckbuilding, we shouldn't just give the decks one short tournament where they can shine.

That sounds like a good suggestion to me. We probably won't do these type of drafts very often.

Sure. I don't really have a suggestion on the details, but it'll probably take a month or more to draft them, so we might as well put them to good use.

I can't believe my turn came up 5 minutes after I checked the thread and went to sleep, well anyway I'll take Umezawa's Jitte and since I'm after Grinnin again I'll PM my choice to the person after me to speed it up.

P.S. I also though about a legaue or something similar and it would be great if we would have everybody against everybody. We could play say 2 decks per week which would be 28-42 matches which seems doable since we probably won't have decks that will take an hour to win.

If everyone wants to do alot of rounds with these decks, I think Cognis has a good idea. Most drafts like this have everyone play everyone from what I understand, which would mean 56 matches for each of us to play. Then maybe a top 4 bracket (6-8 more matches).

And Grinnin is up!
