Bracket A
Aswan Jaguar Tourlou
Monopoman Bolas
Aswan as human win 2-0
Game 1: Mull first 2 hands (1 landers), 6 card hand is 4 lands,
Quirion Dryad,
Vampire NighthawkI get the early start with
Quirion Dryad,
Vampire Nighthawk, and
Sarkhan Vol pumping my men. The AI steals my Dryad with
Control Magic, but Sarkhan keeps throwing hasty attackers. AI kills
Sarkhan Vol because I keep attacking, but the AI is low on life when this happens and I counterattack for the win.
Game 2: Opening hand is 3 lands, Akroma,
Fireball,
Disintegrate, and
Gatekeeper of Malakir. Seems fine.
This game the AI has an early
Control Magic again, this time for my
Xira Arien. However, it does not matter because the AI makes bad attacks into my
Sarkhan Vol I had again and Akroma takes the game home for me.
Monopoman Bolas as human win 2-0
Game 1: I have a 5 land hand with Blooghast and
Sower of Temptation, but one of the lands is
Barren Moor so I keep.
I draw
Vedalken Shackles early so I decide to dig for as many early islands as possible. I steal
Mirri, Cat Warrior and equip her with
Sword of Fire and Ice. Maybe it's because of first strike, but this setup lets
Mirri draw me 2 extra cards and deal 4 damage every turn. Obviously this is an easy win.
Game 2: 3 lands,
Bitterblossom (!),
Fire/Ice,
Bloodghast,
Bogardan Hellkite. Easy keep!
So... AI misses its first land drop. I play
Bitterblossom and follow up with Jace the Mind Sculptor that I draw. I then put
Sword of Fire and Ice into play. The only life I lose all game is the life I lose to my own
Bitterblossom.
Bracket B
Cognis Rorix
Monopoman Slivers
Cognis Rorix as human win 2-0
Game 1: 3 Mountains,
Goblin Sharpshooter, Kiki-Jiki, Chandra, and
Platinum Angel. I keep mostly because I expect Chandra to be awesome.
I play a few turns, but decide to start over. The AI clones my
Mogg Fanatic but due to a bug AI never has to sacrifice his
Clone to ping with his "Fanatic". He brings me down to 26 and I decide I've had enough and start over.
Game 1a: 2
Mountain, Jitte (!),
Sword of Fire and Ice (!)
Blood Knight,
Gauntlet of Power,
Goblin Matron. Easy keep.
Well. Not only do I get to Jitte up my
Blood Knight, but I put
Blood Moon (!) into play. However, AI has
Aether Vial and keeps things interesting. The AI actually gets close to killing me because of a fast start of
Plated Sliver +
Might Sliver + the red pump sliver. However, I hold down the fort with Kiki Jiki +
Solemn Simulacrum and grind out the win. I expected it to be much easier than it turned out.
Game 2: 3 Mountains,
Blood Moon (!),
Solemn Simulacrum,
Siege-Gang Commander,
Beacon of Destruction. Easy keep.
Well.
Blood Moon makes this one REALLY easy. Slivers doesn't do much with mountains only. Rorix and his goblin minions beat down the mountain path and throw a few of their children at the computer just for spite. >:|
Monopoman Slivers as human lose 1-2
Game 1: Water Grave,
Stomping Ground,
Darksteel Ingot,
Mystical Tutor,
Necrotic Sliver,
Essence Sliver,
Mulldrifter. Seems fine, keep.
AI has a turn 1
Sol Ring while I miss my 3rd land drop. Uh oh. AI then plays
Magus of the Moon and I'm an idiot and don't use
Mystical Tutor in response. Ugh. Robert Frowney, Jr. would like a word with me. Anyways I get the 3rd land and
Darksteel Ingot in play the turn before I die.
Game 2:
Overgrown Tomb,
Tropical Island,
Stomping Ground,
Control Magic,
Survival of the Fittest (!),
Harmonic Sliver,
Sinew Sliver. Keep.
I use my Survival to get
Squee, and then
Genesis. AI has turn 3
Magus of the Moon *again*. Frown town. I stall with
Squee for a few turns and get
Aether Vial for Creatures +
Coalition Relic to cast
Worship. This stalls the game for a looong time and eventually I assemble an army of Slivers and use
Necrotic Sliver + control Magic on AI's Kiki Jiki to win the game.
Game 3:
Crumbling Necropolis,
Sacred Foundry,
Darksteel Ingot,
Remand,
Metallic Sliver,
Thirst for Knowledge,
Winged Sliver. I keep mostly because I forget
Remand is only a 1 turn counter instead of a hard counter for
Blood Moon. Argh.
AI doesn't have
Blood Moon, but it has
Sol Ring ->
Gauntlet of Might -> turn 3 Rorix. Wow!

I use
Personal Tutor for
Vindicate against Rorix once, but AI just brings it back and I lose to 21 general damage.
Bracket C
NicDanger Grand Arbiter
Juzamjedi Isamaru
NicDanger as human win 2-0
Game 1: 3 lands,
Intrepid Hero,
Path to Exile,
Land Tax (!),
Capsize. This is a super powerful hand against my deck, easy keep.
I play
Magus of the Moat I draw early and stop AI dead in its tracks. AI plays a
Cloudgoat Ranger which I Path. I start bouncing creatures with
Capsize while AI plays
Luminarch Ascension. Whatever. Next turn AI plays
Ravages of War and I have no counter. Oops. It's OK though because I still have land drops thanks to
Land Tax and I bounce Ascension before it does anything. AI "gives up" after and I win at 62 life (thanks Ajani).
Game 2: I mulligan a 3 island hand with Arcanis and Yosei (seemed to slow). Free mulligan is 2
Plains,
Mishra's Factory,
Sol Ring,
Magus of the Moat,
Augury Adept, Meloku. Obv. keep.
I topdeck island and play my general on turn 2. I follow up by replaying my general and then Meloku +
Magus of the Moat on turn 4. Must? Is. AI resolves
Baneslayer Angel, but I answer it with Interpid Hero.
Juzamjedi as human win 2-0
Game 1: 4
Plains,
Sol Ring,
Lightning Greaves,
Crovax Hero. It's OK.
I get in early beats with Isamaru + artifacts. Inexplicably the AI casts
Timetwister to refill my hand and I get lots of gas including Elspeth, removal spells, and
Cloudgoat Ranger. I keep beating up on the AI and it isn't close.
Game 2: 2 fetchlands,
Path to Exile,
Luminarch Ascension,
Worship,
Disenchant, Gauntlets of Power. I like the Ascension in this matchup so I keep.
I get Ascension active easily. AI drops a Baneslayer, but I send her to exile. Afterwards my Angel tokens make quick work of the AI's life total.
Bracket D
Jatill Soldiers
Shantak Niv-Mizzet
Jatill as human win 2-0
Game 1: I mull a 1 lander into 2
Plains, Jitte (!),
Sword of Fire and Ice (!),
Stoneforge Mystic,
Veteran Swordsmith, Akroma (!). A little land light, but I keep.
So it turns out there are only 3 equipment in the deck... and the 3rd one is
Skullclamp, lol. Once I have SoFI active I don't think Niv-Mizzet has much chance to win and it's a rout.
Game 2: I keep 3
Plains,
Field Marshal,
Crusade, Yosei, and Iona (!)
I lay out some dudes while AI plays
Time Spiral to refill my hand. Score. I notice that AI is terrible with
Compulsive Research and discards land + other 2 times this game (Jace TMS was one of the discards...) Things are going OK and... oh, that's
Sword of Fire and Ice. GG
Shantak as human win 2-1
Game 1: I keep 2 island +
Mountain,
Dragonmaster Outcast,
Standstill,
Control Magic,
Counterspell.
I play turn 2
Standstill and AI breaks it immediately to play
Serra's Ascendant. I draw
Bribery. And use it for Iona. And laugh hysterically.
Game 2: I keep 2
Mountain,
Island,
Sage's Dousing,
Lightning Greaves,
Wheel of Fortune,
Mulldrifter.
It turns out this hand is way too slow to stop the AI. AI plays a creature every turn and then plays
Ajani Goldmane. I have no sweepers and just roll over and die before I can do anything.
Game 3: I keep 2
Island,
Izzet Boilerworks,
Steam Vents,
Arcanis the Omnipotent,
Cunning Sparkmage, and
Sword of Fire and Ice.
The AI has
Stoneforge Mystic ->
Sword of Fire and Ice. Uh oh. I use All is Dust to stabilize at 1 life. Then I use
Vedalken Shackles to steal
Battlegrace Angel. From there I attack a few times with Niv-Mizzet and gain life and Niv Mizzet deck draws a ton of cards and I win.
