April Tournament - round 2 ends 4/24
by jatill » 22 Mar 2011, 18:13
Here's the format for the April tournament... I couldn't resist.

We'll use the limited version, and allow cards only from Fallen Empires and earlier, using the point restrictions detailed in the article. Happy building!
Note, you really can use 10 copies of a card in your deck, if you can afford it!
I would assume Mana Crypt and Astral cards are banned, since they are not even on the list.

I read the same article in the morning and just thought this could be fun. I would be in, but I'm again away from 4th to 15th April. But if you need an extra participant or don't give penalties from not reporting games, I'm in.
Two questions:
1) Would you consider allowing Homelands cards (not that there are many that would be useful) since the article says it was published when Homelands had just come out.
2) Since it is 20 points and 60 cards, this means that the cards in allowed sets but not in the list cost 0 points, right? Edit: Just re-read the article and this was confirmed, so consider this answered.

Awesome! I'm in. Do we PM decks to jatill?
Also, call me stupid, but is there an easy way to filter out cards past Fallen Empires (or Homelands if we decide that) in the Deck Editor?

Sure, include Homelands if you want. I'm not really sure what that buys you.
Yes, PM decks to me.

Does the normal restricted list still apply, or could I hypothetically use six Mox Sapphire in my deck? (and thus spend 18 of my 20 points)

I don't know seems kind of odd to allow 6+ copies of power 9 in my opinion but guess that is Jatill's call.

If that's how you want to use all your points, that's legal. Everyone's still on the same playing field.

Has anyone noticed a severe game slow down maybe due to multiple same cards?Because mine goes as slow as a turtle.
Do cards from this sets use the rules engine?maybe we can turn it off to speed things up.
What about your decks, has anyone made a 2nd or 3nd turn kill?

I think turning off rules engine should be safe here, but we'll have to verify once decks are submitted.

I´m spending most of my time working on a Mordor clone (visual basic)( viewtopic.php?f=73&t=4294 ). Won´t be able to play next month, this project is very time intensive right now and i really would like to finish it asap without much distraction.
Retired a long time ago. I will not reply.

We only have 4 competitors right now... look for at least 2 more.

I am interested, just been busy at work (end of every quarter is busy for us public company employees).
You can count me in, I will try to submit tonight if possible.

I made a deck in literally 2 minutes and didn't test it. It's probably really really bad, given the format, but it's also funny as heck and if it wins I will laugh for years at your defeat.

Way to steal my idea! Seriously was thinking Kobolds lol
Edit: I think I broke it better than Kobolds

Well, my more serious ideas involved cards like Mana Vault (0 points???), ball lightning, juggernaut, black vise, strip mine, and similar goodies, but I figured kobolds is about as funny as you can get, other than maybe a dwarf deck. Hmm... maybe I'll do that for May. You know I will... I did battle of wits before, I'll do anything :p
