This has resolved the issue for almost everyone. Alternatively, like posted just a few comments above here, just run the startMage batch/command file from your xmage installation directory instead (circumvents needing the launcher)

You'll have to replace the [dot]'s with .'s since the site won't let me post real links.
The issue is that the link the launcher checks for Java is broken, so it won't download the correct version. This link is stored on a config hosted on the Xmage site, so there's nothing to edit locally to fix it. I manually installed Java and edited the installed.properties file to expect Java to already be installed, so the game will launch. I will try to make a version for Mac OS users, but I make no promises.
