This has resolved the issue for almost everyone. Alternatively, like posted just a few comments above here, just run the startMage batch/command file from your xmage installation directory instead (circumvents needing the launcher)

You'll have to replace the [dot]'s with .'s since the site won't let me post real links.

The issue is that the link the launcher checks for Java is broken, so it won't download the correct version. This link is stored on a config hosted on the Xmage site, so there's nothing to edit locally to fix it. I manually installed Java and edited the installed.properties file to expect Java to already be installed, so the game will launch. I will try to make a version for Mac OS users, but I make no promises.

Hello I have windows 10 and I cannot install the Xmage

I installed Java then downloaded the .jar file and after that I execute it and the DOS black window pop ups for like a mili-second and then goes away and nothing happens

Is there an issue on Windoes 10???

I had to delete the entire client from my computer, and I am attempting to reinstall. I deleted the client and the java folder. I re-downloaded the .jar file, but it does not generate any of the other folders when I run it, and the launcher comes up looking blank. Not sure what I am missing, but it looks like it is picking up some remnant of the previous program on there, and getting stuck. Not sure where to go from here.

Could you do that again, please? I had your version actually running until the server denied my connection - because a newer version of XMage was expected. When I updated, I was back in the good old "Start Client Button does nuffin" mode.

Hi Everyone.

I am new to the site. Can anyone kindly guide/help me how to install xmage launcher? I have been watching a couple of videos from yt and none of it works for me. I am using Windows10. Verified and confirmed that I have downloaded java version 8.

Would really appreciate all your help.

It currently doesn't work because of a bad config.json on the XMage server.
Until they fix it server side, the download via the client is impossible.
Unfortunately, despite that bug having been reported in the bug section, installer section and how to install section, there is no reply from the devs/admins so far.
If you are lucky, somebody might upload his client with Java and latest XMage predownloaded. It works fine then*, since the installation is portable.

*Until the XMage server wants a newer version of Java or XMage to accept your connection.

Hi, all - trying to install image on my Mac and nothing is working. I've tried abiding by the rules set up in the original post for Mac OS installation but it hasn't helped. Essentially what happens is that when xmage first opens after I've installed it, xmage will continually say "java not found" even though the most recent java is installed, and not give me the opportunity to launch the server. If I exit out of xmage after it auto opens when I install it, I can't open the client launcher at all because it says I don't have the correct privacy settings, even when I go in and manually change the privacy settings on the application to allow me access.

Does anybody have any advice? I'd really like to be able to play with my girlfriend :'(

I've created an Xmage folder on my desk, and downloaded the launcher there. I've launched it, and it updated java just fine. But it fails to update to the XMage version 1.4.37V4 (2019-07-13) because of some security on my computer. I've bypassed this security and managed to download the xmage_1.4.33V4a.zip by other means (http://xmage.de/files/). I'm stuck there however, as I don't know what to do with the unzipped files, and simply putting them into the XMage folder doesn't seem to help.

EDIT : Actually, I'm pretty sure unzipping the files into the Xmage folder was the right thing. The two problems from there are : 1) XMageLauncher doesn't seem to realize the updated files are in its folder and thus keep asking for an update ; 2) launching the client with either the startClient or startClientWin7 files fails after a window pops up and flickers out after less than a second.

If you don't see popup logs then java not installed or files in wrong folder.

You can download full zip-client from beta server to research install folder: http://xmage.today/
It's also contains special run-launcher.cmd file to run launcher with extra commands (that's help with not working downloads).

XMage's must contains:
1. \game\XMageLauncher-0.3.8.jar (launcher file)
2. \game\installed.properties (update info -- that's why it's ask about update -- it's compare values with http://xmage.de/xmage/config.json and download on different). Current release:
java.version=1.8.0_201
xmage.version=1.4.37V4 (2019-07-13)
3. \game\java\jre1.8.0_201\bin\ (inner java 8 to run client and server);
4. \game\xmage\mage-client (client)
5. \game\xmage\mage-server (server)

I followed the steps, but got an error message :
"Remote task erro. Wrong client version.
Your version: 1.4.38-betaV0 (build: 2019-08-16 10:00)

You must use files from today's server as info about files structure. Current beta is not compatible.

Instructions:
1. Create game folder;
2. Download and put launcher file to game folder;
3. Copy run-launcher.cmd file to game folder;
4. Copy installed.properties file to game folder;
5. Edit installed.properties and use that values:

6. Copy and extract release zip to game\xmage folder

7. Copy game\java files from old install to new. If you haven't java then delete that line from installed.properties

8. Run launcher. It will promt to update java (if missing). Run launcher.

i have java and i try to install the launcher but when i open it instead of the launcher it opens a page of the notes and i cant understand whats wrong, i am use i have java, i am sure i have the latest version, and i have Windows 10
