too much lag

Maybe that's a rethorical question, anyway: server overload. Or, possibly, bad internet connection.

There was/is a bug (or multiple bugs) that slows down the XMage server if it occurs.
I see than on the server, that the cpu load goes up.
Seems like with the last update this bug happens less often.

Anyway I'm looking into this generally.
