Problem updating xmage
by Juenk » 13 Oct 2015, 20:35
I tried to update my client from 1.4.4v6 to 1.4.4v8 but there comes always this message:
Before this, I had updated my windows version from 7 to 10. So I tried to delete and download everything again, but the download didn't start either (I have another java version installed):
I tried to run also java as admin, disabled firewall and anti-virus programs - still no success.
Any ideas what might be the problem?

And you have no problem to download the files manuelly from the links?
xmage_1.4.4v8.zip
xmage_1.4.4v8.zip
What error message is written to the launcher log file?

can you please help me with the problem? I really don't know how to get Xmage working again.
Note: Xmage's own Java version was deleted by the launcher and also could not be downloaded again when I tried to run it (I deleted unintentionally the installed.properties file).

Seems like the user has no sufficient rights to write to the folder you use for xmage.
So best you copy the launcher jar file (XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar) to a folder in your user directory (e.g. create a folder named xmage).
After that start the XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar within this folder to download and install xmage.

I fixed mine. First download this. The download failed a few times for me, it "finishes" after not downloading the whole thing, in this case when you try open it in winrar an error pops up.
Though the first time I tried downloading it in Microsoft Edge rather than chrome it worked fine. Might need to try a few times though.
Then just delete the files in the "xmage" folder within your xmage installation. (something like C:\Xmagefolder\xmage)
It should be where mage-client and mage-server are, and then just paste in the contents of the zip file.
