Bug Reports XMage 1.4.16 SOFTWARE

If you have encountered any problems while using XMage 1.4.16 you can post them here.
Please mention who you were playing against: Human or the AI type.
Please describe how you got to that point. A screenshot of the battlefield at the moment something went wrong will be useful too. Otherwise, naming the cards that interacted will suffice. If you get an error log please add that too. Also often does a gamelog file from the mage-client/gamelogs/ folder help to reproduce the problem.



  1. Please use a separate post for each problem/bug.
  2. Don't report here problems concerning to install, start or connect xmage. Only game related problems of using xmage.
  3. Don't report here cards you would like to see implemented. Please report those card requests here:

XMage 1.4.17V0 (2016-10-23)
* Fixed a problem with Ooze Token that was wrongly created with P/T 0/0 (related to Inexorable Blob, Mitotic Slime and Corrupted Zendikon).
* Fixed a problem with emerge, that the spell could not be cast with emerge, if the player had less mana available as the full emerge mana costs.
* Fixed some bugs where return to battlefield effects on end of turn could bring back cards, that should return first on next turn (e.g. Flickerwisp targets Flickerwisp).
* Fixed a problem with not from hand castable cards that were cast before from an opponent e.g. from exile.
* Fixed that a spell that becomes a permanent didn't had the colors of the spell (e.g. Ersatz Gnomes).
* Fixed a bug with tokens using the optional EntersBattlefieldEffect (e.g. Clone with Mimic Vat).


* Aquitect's Will - Fixed a bug that the target land lost other abilities.
* Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast - Fixed that the -1 ability targeted an artifact creature instead of artifact or creature.
* Doubling Season - Fixed that tokens were not doubled because they were put onto the battlefield on Doubling Seasons controller's side but wrongly only if Doubling Seasons controller did controll the effect that put the tokens onto the battlefield.
* Glint-Next Crane - Fixed that it was not optional to reveal an artifact.
* Gonti, Lord of Luxury - Fixed the not working "look at the face down card" ability.
* Phyrexian Metamorph - Fixed that the enteres battlefield effect was not optional.
* Midnight Oil - Fixed that also one remaning counter was removed it from it's own effect.
* Order of Succession - Fixed that the choosing of creatures was wrongly targeted.
* Padeem, Consul of Inovation - Fixed Legendary supertype.
* Vesuvan Doppelganger - Fixed a bug that the enter the battlefield effect did not work.

[Star Wars]
* Fixed some wrong rarities.
* Fixed some Sorceries that were implemnted as Instants.
* Sabacc Game - Fixed a null pointer exception while the Sabacc Game effect resolved.
* Repair - Fixed reminder text in popup.
* Dark Decision: Fixed that one can’t cast the exiled card.
* Force Adapt: Fixed that can’t be cast.
* Cloaking Device: Fixed that the life loss did not happen as it is supposed to.
* Capture: Fixed wrong cost in-game.
* Gungan Captain: Cost in-game is (3)(U) instead of the actual (2)(U).
* Trade Federation Battleship: Is treated in-game as a 2/2 instead of 0/6.
* Force Scream: Fixed that it was implemented as Instant despite being a Sorcery.
* Force Lightning: Fixed that it was implemented as Instant despite being a Sorcery.
* Battle Tactics: Fixed that it was implemented as Instant despite being a Sorcery.
* Sith Marauder: Fixed the hate ability not always working..


XMage 1.4.16v3 (2016-10-09)
* Fixed animation of transformable cards. Caused timer error messages.
* Fixed a image cache problem that prevented to show cards with different art (e.g. basic lands) correctly.

XMage 1.4.16v2 (2016-10-08)
* Fixed a bug that prevented that players could join limited tournaments.

XMage 1.4.16v1 (2016-10-08)
* Creating a table fails because LAYOUT information is contained in the submitted deck.
* Fixed a problem with showing basic land images in card editor.

I downloaded the new client and played a couple of matches, but now it won't let create new tables or join existing ones.

LevelX: That's because of a bug that happens if you try to create or join a table with a deck, that contains LAYOUT information line for the new deck editor.
As a work around you can delete that LAYOUT lines with a text editor from the .dck file or
update to 1.4.16v1 that should solve that problem.

Hello, not sure if this is due to new version as I just installed this yesterday for the first time.
I cannot start a match using my own deck, it only works with the sample decks.
I have a server+client running, playing vs AI. It works fine when I select one of the Sample decks. But if I select one I have created, nothing happens when clicking the OK button in the "New table" window. The server log always does the same thing - creates table and then immediately "Table remove request":

i get this error whenever any player plays any card or activates any ability, there's also a pop-up on screen.

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Timer already cancelled.

LevelX: Probably a problem with the animation of transformable cards. We're looking into it.

Can't update, when I open the launcher it tells me there is a new version, I click update and it downloads but right after it says installing it says version installed (old version) and that I get a pop up saying new version available.

where do you put it so you can launch with the launcher? so that you knwo you can be whole and not Jerry rigged?

I am having the same issue. I am not getting any reactions in the server console on clicking okay though.
I actually can play vs AI with my decks. Games with decks created or overwritten with the new xmage version cannot be started however. I was able to against AI with a deck. I opened that particular deck afterwards in the deck editor, saved it without changing anything. After that the AI game wouldn't start anymore after clicking okay.
So basically AI games containing decks from the new xmage version can't be started.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Im getting this as well now, and i cant download 1.4.16v1 manually in the download thread, since that is still 1.4.16v0.

Could anyone help me or tell me how to fix the issue ?

Fireshoes: 1.4.16v1 now is available in the release thread.

Hey, first of all thanks for the great update and all the hard work!
One thing I noticed, with the new symbols in the game player panel, I can no longer see the scrollbar underneath my hand on my Macbook when using XMage in fullscreen-mode:

It appears for a short while when the game starts (disappears after one second, probably while XMage decides on the orientation of all the interface objects).
I can see the bar if I enter the windowed mode (as there, the player avatars are hidden and this the panel smaller) or if I set the size of hand cards and stack object to the minimal value, which makes playing pretty annoying.

It would be great if there was the possibility to force the scrollbar to appear. One alternative would be to give us the ability to resize the game player panel, or if that is not reasonable with all the symbols, to permanently hide the player avatars, freeing up the space for the scrollbar.

LevelX: You need to make the hand cards smaller (Preferences /GUI Size/Size game elements/Hand cards and stack objects)
