Collectible Card Game Headquarters

Is this a common bug in the game where you are unable to take control of your opponent's turn during emerakul? So I go to take their turn and switch hands. And for some odd reason I go to their main phase and I am unable to cast anything. The phase instantly switch to entering combat. Is their something in the game that allows the opposing play to skip phases during the control turn? Is this common? What can I do to make sure I play a fair game when I spent so much time casting this card?
