Issues with installing XMage
by theamityeffect » 30 Jan 2017, 02:01
Recently I have been trying to install and download XMage, after having gotten a new computer I have wanted to get back into it, but when I try to download it there is no button to start up XMage, nothing, I have tried uninstalling Java to reinstall it, I have verified it, I have even tried to download it through different browsers, I don't know what's going on, can you please help me?

You need to explain more in detail your problem.
1) Java has to be installed.
2) Download the launcher.jar (best to a xmage directory).
3) Execute the launcher.jar with java.

Java is installed, In fact, I tried to reinstall it to make sure that it had been successfully installed, and I did so through different browsers. I also verified it through the java site to make sure that everything was working all fine and dandy. But installing the jar file for the launcher and executing it is where I am a bit confused. I don't know if I downloaded the launcher.jar if so, where can I find it? How do I use Java to execute it, if you could help me out with that I'd be grateful.

You can download the launcher here:
http://185.3.232.200/xmage/XMageLauncher-0.3.8.jar
Normally jar files are connected to the java.exe and started correctly if you click on it.
However sometimes this relation is damaged but you can start it using a command window:
1) Open a command window.
2) Set the current directory to the directory the launcher jar file is located.
3) To start the launcher enter:
java -jar XMageLauncher-0.3.8.jar
and push the enter key, that should start the launcher. (So you're fine).

One last thing how do I set the directory, sorry I am mentally challenged at times, do I have to look for a specific file for this directory? If you could give step by step I'd be greatly appreciative.
