BUG: Halimar Tidecaller Missing Ability

Postby ironcount » 21 Mar 2017, 20:57

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post a card error for the current build of XMage, but Halimar Tidecaller from the Battle for Zendikar block should make all land creatures you control have flying, but this ability currently doesn't work and other creatures don't fly.

Hope you guys can fix it - if not it's all good, just thought I'd point out the bug. XMage has been awesome so far. Keep up the killer work!

Bug reports should go in the bug reports thread that is right at the top of the forum.

Also, what were the other creatures you had in play?

Thanks for your response and sorry about putting this thread in the wrong section!

I had Sylvan Advocate, Tireless Tracker and Thraben Inspector in play at the time...

Halimar Tidecaller says "land creatures" as in, literally, permanents that are currently both a creature and a land at the same time, e.g.: Dryad Arbor, Stalking Stones after its ability was used, or a Forest hit by Animate Land, and so on.

None of those creatures you mention having in play would receive flying from the Tidecaller because they are not lands in addition to being creatures, unless you had something that made them so, which I don't think was the case here.

Thanks for looking into this Doctor Weird! I had Halimar Tidecaller used against me in a local tournament and the judge allowed all non-flying creatures to fly. Ultimately, you're right, it's not a bug, but I'll be mindful of this card's use in the future.

Thanks!

No problem, I didn't really do or look into anything, it's basic card ruling that is literally written on the card itself. If it was an actual official judge who did that then it was a pretty big screw up on something very basic, especially if it ends up costing someone's match in a tournament. Always good to try and learn your cards and rules as best as possible, sometimes even judges can be wrong.
