derevi/teferi interaction

Derevi's activated ability doesn't work with teferi mage of zhalfir on the board. Teferi reads that opponents can only play spells at sorcery speed but derevi's activated ability puts her into play. Unless I am misreading derevi, shouldn't derevi's ability work around teferi's?
