Newer Version of Java not downloading

I have used xmage for months. Now, when I open the launcher, it says a newer version of java is avialable. I force an update and it keeps saying the same message. I have the most current version of Java downloaded on my computer. I know xmage's launcher then downloads its own java which it seems to not be doing anymore. I am running xmage on a Mac. I have seen some say not to use the launcher, to instead use the startmage in the batch folder, yet I have to choose an application to run it and no app is found that can do it that way. I have redownloaded the launcher multiple times. I have totally deleted everything xmage related and redownloaded, as well as java and I keep getting this one error. Any help will be appreciated.

see viewtopic.php?f=70&t=20618

basically try using the startMage batch files within your xmage install directory install of the launcher

I have clicked on them. It says there is not document set to open either file. I dont know if it makes a difference, but this is on a Mac. When I browse the files that can be used to open either batch file, none make sense or work. Im clicking either the startmagewin7.bat or startmage.bat. I cant find a document to use to open either file.

I have the newest version (1.8.0_131 b-11) installed. The launcher says it needs 1.8.0_102 which is claims is the newest. When I try to open one of the startmage files, I cant locate java anywhere to open it which I assume it needs.

My bad, I did not read you were doing this on a Mac. Batch files will not run natively on Mac. However, see https://github.com/magefree/mage/issues/3419 kmcculloch comments a little ways down. He goes into step by step detail into resolving this issue on Mac OSX
