xmage not working, please help

When I go to launch xmage, I get an error that says 'unable to install java. there are errors in the following switches: C:\users\smb15\desktop\xmagelauncher-0.3.8.jar"; check that the commands are valid and try again.'

I have tried the java uninstall tool, I have tried a java cmd fix that I found online. Tried many other things, nothing works. I can get xmage to run from the zip file on the forums, but it does not update and it does not appear to be working properly as far as I can tell. Will update further later on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
