If you have encountered any unexpected behavior/crashes while using MAGE please feel free to post them here.

If the condition is repeatable please include the steps you took.
If you get a server crash please include the error message and/or stack trace displayed in the server console.

Note: you may want to quickly browse the topic to see if anyone else has previously reported the same issue

Here are a few issues that I am currently tracking:

  • server error when player with attachment on another player is killed
  • clicking on player after replay is done crashes server
  • protection ability says "protection from card"
  • jace the mind sculptor ability should show card before asking
  • white box showing if no big card selected
  • ranger of eos effect should remove selected creature on each pick

I can't seem to start the server, the batch file only flashes the command prompt before doing nothing. An added pause command shows no error messages being printed and I still can't connect with the client.

Windows XP SP3
Java 1.6 (JRE 6)

I had the similar issue and fixed it by editing startServer.bat:
from

Sorry, that was my bad. When I created the startServer.bat I assumed that everyone would have the JDK. It will be fixed in the next version release.

Version 0.6
1.I was playing against an AI(non-hybrid MinMax) BRG generated deck using the RB Aggro deck. I Searing Blaze -d him and his Perilous Myr and it went straight to the graveyard without doing any damage to anything as it should be forced to.

2.I opened his graveyard just before winning the match mentioned above, and it was still open when I started the following game, showing the same cards.

EDIT: Another report (there may be many more coming as I'm becoming quite addicted :mrgreen: ): AI had a Rusted Relic out with metalcraft active. I Turn to Slag -ed a myr with a Basilisk Collar attached to make him lose metalcraft. This caused the Rusted Relic to be put in the graveyard for some reason.

Also, I was curious about the replay button that appears on a table when the game is finished, but it just bluntly disconnects me with a "Critical server error" message.

Hi, Hellfish

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce the bugs except graveyard window opened.
1. I added myr under AI control, then played a land, targeted computer and the myr with Searing Blaze. Myr went to grave and computer lost 3 lifes.

3. Added Rusted Relic, Basilisk Collar and Myr under my control. Rusted Relic was 5\5 creature. Attached Basilisk Collar to Myr and played Turn to Slag targeting Myr, so Myr and Collar went to graveyard as expected, and Ruster Relic lost creature type still staying on battlefield.

Strange that I couldn't reproduced the bugs ;(

1.Did the AI get to assign the 2 damage from the Myr's graveyard effect? That's what I was missing.
2.Huh, that's odd. Could it depend on who's controlling the Rusted Relic(The AI did)? I'll be back if it happens again, with more detailed info :)

btw, don't know why, but it loves so much to eat its own creatures ;)
Vampire Aristocrat may ruin the game, entering the battlefield and eating all the creatures =)
today started working on new ai
drafting and better ai is the main goals for 0.7

Hello everyone. I am new to Mage and so far I am really enjoying every single aspect of this game from the deck editor to the game table itself. Everything is user-friendly which is very good.

I have created some simple decks to get familiarized with the game and I came across with a card that it think it is not working as it should so I guess this is the right place to say it!
Fireball: I am able to select multiple targets but I can’t say when I am done with it. However after it I can still spend X mana but in the end no damage is done. I don’t know if it is me who is doing something wrongly or if is really a bug.

As I did in the blog I want to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone for an amazing work so far.

Hi javardo,

I'm glad that you are enjoying MAGE. :D

Fireball does have an awkward interface and few bugs. We have made some changes which should fix the damage issue but the targetting also needs some tweaking. I'll see what I can do for the next release.

We are planning on releasing verion 0.7 on April 1 (that is no April fools joke), so you shouldn't have to wait too long for the fix.

Hi,
I found some bug in version0.7.1.
1. AI always cast Ball Lightning(and Spark Elemental) in postcombat main phase.
2. AI always pays 2 life for Putrid Leech.
3. AI always uses Flesh-Eater Imp's sac ability.
4. while being equipped, Sunspear Shikari haven't lifelink.
5. while being equipped Accorder's Shield, creature haven't vigilance.
6. while opponent controls Swamp, Blistergrub can be blocked.

p.s. do you take card requests?

Hi g0tcha,

Thanks for reporting the bugs. For the AI issues which variant were you using? If it was the default AI then I would say that this is the expected behavior. It doesn't do much other than find what abilities are available and then try to activate them. However, the other AI's should only use these abilities if they provide them some sort of benefit.

We will make sure that the other bugs get fixed for the next release.

Yes we do take card requests. Note that we are planning on having Scars of Mirrodin and Mirrodin Beseiged completed for the next release (except for possibly Mind Slaver - that card scares me). If there are cards in other sets let us know and we would be happy to take a crack at them as well.

It was a question from long time ago: should we include all variants of AI we have now: Default, Minimax, Minimax Hybrid, Mad.
Actually players don't know what these names mean. And as for me, all they want is just to play against most competitive.
So what do you think about keeping only two of them in the next release?

I think that's a good idea. There are times however when I want to quickly test a deck and I don't want to wait forever for the AI to make a move. What if we were to only have two AI variants but added a difficulty level between 1 and 10? The level would control how deep the minimax algorithm would search and how long. We could make the depth difficulty * 2 and time difficulty * 3. Level 10 would then equate to our currently settings.
