The MAGE team has released version 0.5.1. This is a small update to MAGE which includes some important fixes the most significant of which is a change to the deck format. If anyone has a deck in the previous format that they want converted PM me.

This version includes:
    * a fix to the deck format that was preventing some users from loading the sample decks
    * the deck format is now human readable
    * a preferences setting to skip certain game steps
    * lots of new cards
    * improved card popups
    * other bug fixes
You can download the new version from http://code.google.com/p/mage/

MAGE now provides a bundled release option which includes both the client and server and a single start launcher.

Many thanks to the MAGE team for pulling this together so quickly.

The bundle is nice, it got up and running for me immediately. Since I like to conserve my energy, we stress convenience here at CCGHQ, and the bundle does the trick. Thanks!

I like the selectable AI option too, that's the way to go.

The new collaboration is working out nicely isn't it? :)

The bundle option is indeed a good idea! :)
The human readable decks too. I did not like the old binary serialized format.

Thanks,

Unfortunately client/server is a necessary evil if you want player vs. player. It probably scares off a lot of non-programmers. Hopefully a bundled package will ease the pain a bit.

It has been a lot of fun working with the MagicWars guys. They really know their stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish down the road.

Bug report: I played several games but AI never attacked even if I had no blockers at all and never blocked even if the damage would be fatal (using non-hybrid minimax AI).
