I realised that it requires at least a basic level of assembly knowledge in order to make what im trying to make and it isnt only copy/paste..
Oh well...It got a bit late. Ill make 1 last cig and off to bed.
I'll tell ya - I've puffed a few thousand fags in the course of working on the updates.

NoobWizard wrote:Ah..about the corrupted fields...Well i saw something like ..one name in manalink.csv and different name at magic.exe with the same ID ofc.
For example, check at Magic.exe the ID's 52 and 1239.Both are "Crystal Rod".At the "Manalink.csv, 52 refers to "Crystal Rod" and 1239 to "Isamaru, Hound of Konda"
And about the DB Card Type 2..yeah..Im struggling to figure out too what the @#%^ is. Cig done!
/me out
You'll find a few of those. The card entries are correct, but when someone has copied a cards code to make a new one, they have left the previous cards name in the card name field. As far as I can make out, it shouldn't cause any problems as long as the cards code pointer is correct.

NoobWizard wrote:PS: If 061110 is the latest version ,then yes im running the latest :)

NoobWizard
That's the current one. I've got another nearly ready to go - 20 new card images from various sets and promo releases.
I'm just waiting for the guys in the pic forum to come up with some of the new art work from M11 to add to it.

All the best. Puff, puff, puff.

After lots of experimenting, copy/pastes and lots of "puffies" :D...
I made a brand new Vodalian Knights combining Dandan and Killer Whale.
I had some unstability probs, that caused the game to crash during casting plus i had hard time to figure out how i can make him activate his "gain flying ability".

WHat i did was , i copied the Dandan, gave him "First strike from the "Magic.exe" tab, copied the whole code in empty space ,then copy/pasted the whole code from Killer Whale at the end of the previous code. TEsting that i saw that it couldnt activate the "gain flying" ability , so i thought maybe if i could copy/paste the "Reserved Information" from KIller Whale. ANd it somehow worked.

I know its kinda "cheap" way, but as far as it works... My eyes popped out trying to read and decode every line from assembly code. It requires loooots of patience , time , cigarettes and in the worst case , a bottle of good vodka to sleep well :D

Btw, im looking forward to see the new cards :)

Cheers and many puffs,

well well wonderful job people on the installer and gettign the game to work on vista 64!!!

one issue though. i downloaded the card art from the first page noticed one problem. mishra's factory when you turn it into the assembley worker. it does not always have a picture just a grey box. im talkling about the shandalar when you go to attack.. also noticesed some pixelation of some of the cards that you win from defeating the stronger foes. Also the murk dweller in the deck editer inside shandalar it says creature zombie. but when playing the card reading it says summon murk dweller, also if you were to buy the card from a village it also says summon murk dweller. just wanted to point this out.

pixelation of cards' picture:
untamed wilds (win screen)
dark ritual (win screen)
raise dead (win screen)
Black Knight (ante screen)
fireball (win screen)
Also saw that a lot of the card images are different and not consistant. for example sword plowshars has a competly different picture wen its being played but in the graveyard it has the oringal picture. there are a lot of cards i see with this issue.

I will keep my eyes open for others and note the names here. is there a easy fix to the mishra's factory?

thanks again =D>

The cards displaying different images is normal.
The cards themselves have had different artwork over the years, which we've included in the game.
I've just added some new artwork to the next update for Juggernaut and Mana Leak from the M11 set, and for Birds of Paradise from the M11 pre-release set.

The program randomly selects one of the alternative card images when the card enters or exits the battlefield.
Swords to Plowshares actually has 2 available images.
But to give you an example - Stone Rain has 10!

I've just checked the manalink file and the number of images for Mishra's Factory is correct - so in theory there should be no problems with the artwork displaying blank for the card. But as we've said before, shandalar is something of a problem getting the bugs out of, as it never received the development of the duelling sections of the game - and we haven't got anyone to fix it now.

If you're running the latest card update (dated 061110) the pixelation is strange - as all the card are encoded at the same jpg quality. We had a quality problem with the original set supplied in the ISO (focus, contrast, colour, etc), as all the cards were different sizes and image quality. But I was hoping we'd fixed that.
Although, we've never actually had a report of pixelated images before. But I'll look into it.

I may be able to fix the Murk Dwellers problem (no guarantees) as it appears to be the same problem to the one NoobWizard pointed out. I just need to change the card type entry in the shandalar program, as it's currently set to read the manalink file, which doesn't seem to work for cards with a type value pre-set in the program itself.

Anyway, new card update on the way soon.

cool cool thanks for the reply i can send a screen shot of the pixelation if you want. so you can see what I'm talking about. about the Misha's Factory its not all of the card just a few of them the boxes are Grey. the murk dweller thing i was thinking it was a zombie and i tried to use the master zombie on it to get swamp walk but it didn't work so he died when i did it lol. also in another post some one mentioned that was needed to download from the wiki the old card art files or something from page 10 2nd post, not sure if it applys to what i need to do so I'm deciding to ask.. i looking on the wiki or i think i did. do you know the link if that is indeed what i needed to do. that might correct some of the problems iv been having. i was under the impression that all i needed was the update for the iso. also i don't have any mods installed just to let you know. the card art in the latest one on the front page of this iso topic.

A screen shot would indeed be useful. :D
But as I said, there's no guarantee we can do anything to solve the pixelation problem, or the non showing artwork, as it seems to be exclusive to shandalar and there's very little we can actually fix in that section of the game these days.

We've had problems getting across the fact that this thread is purely for the ISO version of the game - so people have been posting questions and answers related to the other versions available.

But forget all you have read about files in other threads and the wiki - you're correct - all the files associated with the 'ISO version' of the game are posted at the beginning of this thread, and only this thread. Installing any files mentioned in other threads or the wiki will simply corrupt the ISO version of the game.

Just use a generic image hoster like imageshack :
- go to http://imageshack.us/
- select the radio button upload image
- clic on Browse button and select your image saved in your hard drive
- clic on Upload now!
- select the direct link tag and copy it ctrl+c
- go back to the forum and post it between the image tag and you are done

Edit: You may want to upload your image in JPEG format for 56k sake users.
You can also use the uploader from the forum but you are limited to a few Mb.

ok i went through card by card in the card art new folder and compaired it to the pdf instructions. in the cardart new folder pic 0909.jpg has a black background and it says DATA CARD in white letters 0909 is linked to rag man. 0910.jpg is the pic used by the assembly worker (in game when the pic decids to show up that is), but it is linked to raging bull in the .PDF instructions. there is no entry for the assembly worker at all. in my mind no entry means no picture is this correct thinking?

The Data Card (0909) is specific to the Vesuvan Doppelganger card (0263) - the card itself is used to store which creature the doppelganger is cloning. I added the pic with the words DATA CARD just to make the data card look neater.

You mixed up the numbers between the Assembly worker and Raging Bull. Raging Bull is alphabetically card number 909 (left hand side of the card list), the Assembly Worker's Card ID is 0909 (right hand side of the card list). You did the same with the Data Card and the Rag Man cards. It says in the headings at the top of the list columns which are the ID numbers.

If you read the instructions on "Customising the ‘CardArtNew’ folder", you'll notice I mention any alternative art for a card is identified by a letter after the .jpg file number. The program first identifies any artwork for a specific card by the jpg file ID number, and then any alternative images available to the card by the letters after the ID number. It randomly selects which image to display by the letters, not the ID numbers.

Just PM me the screenshot - that would be easiest.

There are 2774 cards.

Now i downloaded "THE ONE AND ONLY UPDATE FOR THE ISO" and inside there are 2500 cards. It's all right?
In the instruction i read that i must delete the old folder, but so i lost 200 cards... any info please?

Thanks
Don't panic, you don't lose 200 cards - you're just losing a lot of 'not used' card artwork files.

The 'CardArtNew' folder supplied in the ISO archive originally came from another development version of the game and included a lot of artwork for cards not included in the ISO version of the game.

The 'CardArtNew' folder in "THE ONE AND ONLY UPDATE" removes all this surplus artwork and replaces some of it with new extra alternative artwork specifically for the cards in the ISO version.

You must delete the original 'CardArtNew' folder when replacing it with the 'THE ONE AND ONLY UPDATE' - to ensure that any previous 'not used' file is actually removed.
