Solution for Red Summons listing problem

Postby Slider2k » 22 Sep 2013, 03:43

As many of you may know, there is a problem with Red Summons listing being too large to fit on the screen, making spells after Wall of Dust inaccessible.

Well, the solution is simple. To access all other red walls (Wall of Earth, Wall of Fire, Wall of Heat, Wall of Opposition, Wall of Stone) the game needs to be run in 800x600 resolution. Two methods, either:
  • change screen display resolution in Windows setting before running the game
  • or use Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit to force display resolution for the game (attached .sdb file with the fix); after acquiring needed spells the fix can be disabled or uninstalled for the game to run at maximum resolution again

Cool, but shouldn't Windseeker Centaur also show up in the list? Or is it 'special' like some of the djinni, efreeti and King Suleiman?

Looks like it's 'special' as it's definitely not in the list.

Also there is a nice display trick I use when playing Shandalar. It allows for alt-tabbing from the game and moving dealt hands off the playing board when dueling. The trick only works in Manalink 1.3.2 and 2010 ISO versions. When you run the game:

  • Pick "Start New Game"
  • Go further to character customization screen
  • Esc back to main menu
After that the displayed resolution should reset to your Windows system setting. The playable area would go top-left, with black to the right and bottom. When dueling, hands can be moved off the playable area for less obstructed play. Deck building screen also benefits from new increased screen resolution.
