A way to find a list of all the possible "fast effects"?
by WindSparrow » 19 Aug 2017, 05:44
Hi,
I was looking into the idea of learning to code Faerie Dragon into Forge for fun, and was wondering if there was a way for me to find all the possible "fast effects" it could cast by looking through the code? If I can't easily find or read such a file I'm planning to just grab every instant + activated ability listed here but I'm hoping to try for accuracy if possible.

His is the fury of the wildfire, the boiling blood of the volcano. He fights you not because you've wronged him, but because you're there.

Faerie Dragon always targets a creature chosen at random. It chooses which effect to apply at announcement, but doesn't reveal it until resolution. The effects are:
- as Berserk, without the timing restriction
- unblockable until end of turn if power <= 2, else fizzles at resolution
- as Blood Lust
- as Lifelace (modified by Sleight of Mind on the Faerie Dragon, as if it had the full text of Lifelace)
- as Purelace (w/Sleight of Mind as above)
- as Chaoslace (w/Sleight of Mind as above)
- 3 damage
- gains flying until end of turn
- +3/+3 until end of turn
- gains banding until end of turn
- as Deathlace (w/Sleight of Mind as above)
- as Thoughtlace (w/Sleight of Mind as above)
- can't regenerate until end of turn
- as Twiddle
- -2/-0 until end of turn
- return to owner's hand
- 1 damage
- base power/toughness becomes 0/2 until end of turn
- as Swords to Plowshares
- -1/-0 counter

Thank you so much Korath! Does the same happen to apply to Whimsy by any chance or does it apply a different set of effects?

It's different. Whimsy chooses both targets and effects at resolution, with different sets of legal targets for each effect. If an effect is chosen that has no legal targets, it's skipped instead of rerolling or such.
- Time Elemental, but can bounce enchanted targets (land, creature, enchantment, or artifact)
- Twiddle; choice to tap or untap is random (land, creature, or artifact)
- Aladdin's Ring (creature or player)
- Ancestral Recall (player)
- Pandora's Box (none)
- Crumble, but can regenerate (artifact)
- Bottle of Suleiman (none)
- Disenchant, but can't regenerate (enchantment or artifact)
- Healing Salve; always life gain mode (player)
- Fissure (land or creature)
- Disrupting Scepter (player)
- Millstone (player)
- The Hive, as if a random untargeted player activated it (none)
- Nevinyrral's Disk, per 4th-edition era rulings: first destroys all creatures, then destroys all artifacts and enchantments, so regenerating artifact creatures and enchantment creatures get destroyed twice (none)
- Fog (none)
- Sindbad, as if the targeted player activated it (player)
