Hi, found this forum thanks to Google.

I downloaded the ISO, and have tried to extract it with WinRAR. But, I'm getting this error message:

"The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

I haven't tried either of the other two install methods yet, but this error message doesn't have me optimistic for either of them working... :(

What do I do?

EDIT: Oh yeah...I'm using Vista.

Try using 7zip. If that doesn't work, download the file again using a different method, as it may actually be corrupt.

Good luck and please keep us informed.

Looks like I worried for nothing...I simply tried a different install method, using a virtual drive, and this time it worked. :D So far it's working great!

Main reason I posted though was cause I looked through the thread and didn't see it already mentioned.

I'm getting started with Microprose Mtg.
I want a lot to play this but to download the most recent files is very confuse due to frequently updates. Which files have I to download to play with the recent cards added? And the Manalink.. is it necessary too?!
Could someone help me?

Sure. Go to the MediaFire link in my signature and look in the "Manalink 3.0" folder, I try to keep that archive updated as an easy, one-step download. You can also grab some add-ons like the tutorial and animations for Shandalar.

Also, you've posted in the Shandalar forum. The Manalink 3.0 forum is were the new updates are.

Does this version have some additional cards that was not in the original Shandalar, Plains Walker part? Just had someone report the deck injector can't insert certain cards and I looked in my game for them but can't buy them from any of the shop. The name escapes me just now but I'm pretty certain it was Elven something of other...

No, the game has the 646 cards that were in the original game and in the two expansions.

Nice thanks for the card count, that'll make it easier to see how many appear to be unaccounted for. It may be the version I have doesn't have the expansion pack cards in it, I'll downloaded the latest version from here to see.

Hello,
I have successfully installed the ISO-Version of MTG-Shandalar (following the installation-guide, that i found in this forum). But when I started the game all text on cards and menu-items both are missing. Hope, someone can help me with this issue.

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's in the instructions too. Not an admonishment, just a reminder.

Finally i can play Shandalar again. Great work :)

I have just one small problem, in Windows 7 i can't access the savegame folder and don't know where windows hides them. If i check the savegame folder it shows no files, but ingame it works fine. But i would like to backup some of my favorite games and the 10 savegame limit ingame is too small for that purpose :(

Shandalar savegames are stored in the Magic root folder. There is also an associated 'mapping' file that shows the game which save file corresponds to which save slot and its name. I think there is also another file that saves the in-game map.

Save a couple of games, then have look at the magic folder and sort files by date. That will probably make you understand what files you need to keep track of. It worked for me, at least.
