Shandalar 2012 - Requesting Help

Greetings!

Thank you all for your hard work on keeping this game alive. I downloaded Shandalar 2012 two weeks ago and finally finished my first play through, which is an experience I owe to all of you.

At this time, I’m only interested in the adventure portion of Shandalar, and I’ve been scouring the internet (mostly this forum) for ways to spice up my game for a second run. I know the system is limited, and I’m not here to ask about adding new cards or abilities.

I’ve been tinkering with some of the files—mostly cards.dat, cards1.dat, and Shandalar.exe.Cards. I’ve been able to change abilities, card names, subtypes, CMC, text, power, and toughness for existing cards—all of which work in gameplay, but not always in preview full card options or stores. Typically, stores and viewing the full card in combat or in the deck editor do not visually reflect the updated border color, CMC, or power and toughness, but they do in game when I draw and play the card. Text, card name, and type always update. CMC is corrrect when assigned to artifacts.

I suspect the problem originated in the game drawing the card, but that wouldn’t account for the fact that CMC artifact values update but colored card values do not. I can’t help shake the feeling there is another file storing data for border color, cmc, and power and toughness values, but I’m not sure.

Does anyone here have any information that might help me correct the problem, if it’s even possible? I would be very appreciative. Thank you for your help, and again for all your hard work!
