Hey, thanks for this great install but I am having some issues.
Running on Win 7 64bit
Have extracted folder and run the 'Run This First' file.
Have tried to run Play_Shandalar but it crashes.
Can run game via the Shandalar execute in Programs.
Game has no text on menus or game screens.
Town screen is blank and pixelated, but buttons appear when you highlight them.
Game crashes when you encounter a creature for a duel.

Have installed game both to my gaming D:\ and to C:\Programme Files 86x
Have run execute as Administrator and disabling visual themes

I've searched the forum but can't find conclusive ways to fix this.
Help appreciated as I'm a huge fan of this game.

Kind regards,

Reinstalling it to the root of my C:\ seems to have fixed it :)

I'm excited to have the opportunity to play an updated version of Shandalar-- Haven't downloaded it yet, but I'm salivating.

I also wanted to comment about a prior post regarding a possible bug regarding "missing cards" Sometimes, you acquire a card in the game and then you get a quest: "Deliver a blue sorcery spell to [villagename]" When you visit this village, they will take a blue sorcery spell from you. Don't think you ever get a chance to tell them which particular blue sorcery card you want to give them. So if you are just questing a lot, you may lose certain cards if you aren't paying attention.

Oh no! I can't even run this game at all...

Even tried installing it at C:\Shandalar.
And my resolution is already 1024x768.

Can't even start the program.
The error I get when running Play_Shandalar.cmd is:

"Magic The Gathering Duel has experienced a problem and needs to close. We're sorry for the inconvenience."

I get this shortly after I run it.

I have Windows XP
Intel Core Duo E6850 @ 3.00 Ghz
Memory 2046 RAM
Direct X 9.0c

The instructions say that if you can't run it, it may be because you are missing DLLs. But this error doesn't tell me that it can't find a particular DLL. I don't know if this is the problem or not -- if it is, which DLLs would I need?

Note also that I have assumed this game is a stand-alone application, and that I do not need MAGIC 2010 ISO. (I have not installed MAGIC 2010 ISO at all).

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me. I have been dying to play Shandalar for years -- I really want to see this one with all these upgrades. I had actually assumed that this was abandon--ware and no one even remembers this game anymore, luckily I found this website.

Yep, Shandalar 2012 installation is standalone, you do not need magic 2010 iso to run it.

On my Win 7 machines Play_Shandalar.cmd never worked, but simply running Shandalar.exe from the Program subfolder works without any problems.

Great version of the game!

I do have one concern however..

The Modern cardframes artmod (Sarlak) contain Spyware "Banker" which is a Trojan.

Sorry if this has been asked and I missed it, but I can get the game to run fine but the videos do not work

I seem to remember cut scenes where the wizards would get hit by a bolt when you defeated an enemy and then they would lose 1 of their hit points. Are these in this version and I am just missing something?

Thanks

First of all, thanks a lot to CirothUngol for this!

Does anyone have experience installing and playing this without admin elevation? I tried uncompressing the archive into a location where my limited user has write access, but I got two UAC prompts; if ignored the batch program continued, only afterwards the game doesn't work of course. I'll look into the batch file, but if anyone already has a workaround, I'd be thankful.

Also, I got the same virus positive as another user above. I do not think that the motivation for this is to spread spyware, so I think that it's most likely a false positive. But a lot of scanners pick it up. 26 out of 46 antivirus in VirusTotal flag it (apparently as a new user I can't post off-site links, the file hash is 5b74b568f1e8093a6b589470b3a9dd96a3af4737f0c2be8f96e24992cbb108fb).

sounds like your anti virus program is flaggin it as a virus and getting rid of it.
