Questions about the gameplay

Maybe someone can answer this..?

When you stumble on a random event on the field saying sumthing like :

"you've encountered a monster's lair (..)
a Whim Dragon is guarding valuable spells (...)"

Leave Quietly
Duel this creature (with 2-3 announced cards as reward)

I noticed that even if you lose the fight you don't lose cards, therefore i always duel these even with poor odds
but maybe doing this (and losing) makes me lose the opportunity to ever get the reward? i mean if this "random event" were to appear again later because i would choose to "Leave quietly" .. maybe?

or is it all random?

and also, about the towns where you trade amulets for cards (like green ams. for green cards) if you do it, does it close for the rest of game?

You got it right - you have absolutely nothing to lose in these lair duels (no ante on your part). So just duel at every opportunity!
As far as I can tell, these lairs pop up continuously through the game (although more often in the beginning and more seldom in the late game).

No, you can come back and buy cards for amulets later in that city. The only times you can't is a short time after you have done such a trading and when you are currently doing a quest for that city.

Really?!
I didn't know that... I'll never not duel again!

...at some point, we really need to catalog info like this.
