Shandalar - original card art, possible?
by magicmoney » 02 Jan 2013, 15:18
Hi,
I'm incredibily happy to see the job you guys made, this game, again availble, FANTASTIC!!!
My question: There is a possibility to switch back to the original old card art? I mean of 4th edition etc..
I really don't like the new cards, I can accept from about Nemesis series, or better from earlier Mirage, today are all computer graphics... cartoon style etc, for me seems like magic passed from a fantastic legendary and surreal story, to a child color cartoon game style)
I checked this old post, but the files are missing, and the updated link send to another post that it's not clear for my understanding

The only way I found now it's to go in the CardArtNew folder, and change any duplicate to the original card..... takes hours
I've found the file
CCGHQ Microprose DOTP Custom ISO Update 112107
but it's not compatible with the latest version, there is an updated version of this?

Since Shandalar apart from graphics and cardart hasn't any other big changes you can use the Magic iso to play it which has the old and the new are fewer.

That's not quite true.Since Shandalar apart from graphics and cardart hasn't any other big changes you can use the Magic iso to play it which has the old and the new are fewer.
This isn't the first time this question has been asked. So in the last update archive I released for the ISO there's a folder called 'Original Card Art'. In this is a card art folder and a set of files which when installed returns the game to displaying only the card art from the original game
It's available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?c3rni3rwakn8i30
But Note - this update will only work for the ISO game - it doesn't work with Manalink3. And make sure to delete the original 'CardArtNew' folder before installing the new one, and allow the new files to overwrite all the old ones.

More information please:
What version of the game are you using (be specific)?
What version of Windows are you using?
...is your Windows version in English (I think this is required)?

Hi Ciroth, first I would like to thank you for the help.
Version: 2009/10 CD-ROM ISO version of the 'Magic: The Gathering 2.0 Manalink game.(Link up by sonic)
and MagicTG_2009_to_2011_patch.exe
My Windows 7 Home Premium/2009
My version is in Portuguese.
Could you explain the difference of the folders "original card art" and "art card update" if both are the same cards?
thx for all!!!

1) Install the 2010 ISO
2) Open the install folder (default is \Program Files(x86)\MagicTG\)
3) Delete the folder named \CardArtNew\
4 Copy the entire contents of the update to the install folder (e.g. \MagicTG\) and overwrite all files.
However, I do not know if the game is compatible with non-english versions of Windows... can anyone verify this?

The "Original Card Art" folder contains only the old Magic Card Art, usually one picture per card. The "Card Art Update" folder contains all of the Magic Card Art available for each card in the game... meaning that cards with many reprints will have many pictures (e.g. Serra Angel, Stone Rain, Dark Ritual, Circle of Protections, Basic Lands, etc.)Matekitu wrote:Could you explain the difference of the folders "original card art" and "art card update" if both are the same cards?

@CirothUngol
I'm using Shandalar 2012 on a German version of Windows 7 and it works, but I can't start it with the Batchfile. (I have to use Shandalar.exe in the Program folder.)
