Question about Card Limits in Shandalar
by Growf » 04 Mar 2013, 22:44
I have been introducing my son to MtG and Shandalar. So great to see that it continues to exist. Couldn't find the answer by searching the forums, so here goes.
Are decks in Shandalar now subject to restrictions? My son couldn't add 4 goblins to his 40 card deck. In the original game there were no card restrictions since rarity was controlled by the number of cards in the world and by ante. I felt this was one thing that made it very much like early Magic. I loved playing the game and using bronze tablets to steal moxes from my opponents. I would hate to find out that I can't have 2 mox pearls in my white deck.
Thanks for any feedback on deck and card limits for Shandalar portion of MtG

Yes, the card limitation goes like this (from the faq at gamefaqs.com):
1-19 cards in deck: 1 copy
20-39 cards: 2 copies
40-59 cards: 3 copies
60+ cards: 4 copies
If you purchase the World Magic 'Tome of Enlightenment', the limit is raised by 1 copy for the first three cases and 60+ card decks lose all limitations.
There is no difference between cards that are normally 'restricted' and any other cards that aren't basic lands. So two moxes are allowed by the game.
BTW, these rules have not changed as far as I know - they have always been like this.
