I just wanted to thank everyone who wrote to me for all the positive feedback I got on last weeks puzzle and just in general for the idea of doing this.

I want to thank Huggy again for planting the seeds in my brain when he brought up the MTG The Puzzling topic a few weeks back in the Duels of the Planeswalkers forum.

I'll get a new puzzle posted here every Thursday night which will give everyone who's interested in it a chance to get to it. I'm hoping that more of our members will participate as they get to know about this still relatively new forum. The first week was very encouraging so I look forward to more folks joining in.

Ok gang, here we go with this week's puzzle.

Puzzle # 2 is called: ACH! HANS!

hint: in pre 6th edition rules you don't lose right away if you have 0 life, you lose at the end of the phase!
Sorry bog wraith, but without this knowledge, it's impossible to solve it for the newer players :/

Thats ok, thanks for reminding me! I meant to mention that all these puzzles are from the era of pre 6th edition rules. I will try to remember to post this point with each subsequent puzzle posting. (Try saying that last sentence 3 times fast! )

Actually, I just found a way to solve it under modern rules.

My solution | Open

1) Tap all your mana sources to get 3BBGGGRRRRR (including elves and all battery counters)
2) Cast Animate Dead on your Bog Rats. 2BGGGRRRRR left
3) Your Llurghoyf is 2/3, so make him unblockable with Dwarven Warriors
4) Cast Pyrotechnics on: Mesa Pegasus, Kjeldoran Skycaptain, and *your own* Llanowar Elves. BGGRRR left.
5) Cast Raise Dead on your Llanowar Elves. GGRRR left.
6) Cast your Llanowar Elves. Tap (1) to gain 1 life with Wooden Sphere, you are now at 2 life. RRR left.
7) Cast Earthquake for 1. Opponent's best move is to prevent the damage with COP: Red, but it doesn't matter if they do or not. This kills Benalish Hero, Pikemen, Llanowar Elves, Bog Rats, Dwarven Warrior and puts you back to 1 life. R left in pool.
Cast Immolation on Llurghoyf, who is now an 11/8, using your last R mana. (elves, pikemen, rats, hero, dwarf, troll, zombie, skycaptain, pegasus in graveyard) Attack with it; it's still unblockable from your dwarf. You win.
